So I recently bought the CTF-4X and have been running, and loving, the quad AC5 setup. The only problem with it is that I always seem to run out of ammo before the game is over thus rendering me almost useless to me team. I usually just plod towards the enemy base at that point trying to be of some help or just act as a distraction. Is there any way to increase the amount of ammo I'm carrying without using an XL engine? I've looked at FF armour but I wouldn't have any room to carry ammo with the extra tons I would gain due to a lack of crit spaces. Any suggestions/alternative build ideas are welcome! Thanks!

Carry a MLas in CT. That way, when you do run out of ammo (and you will. Oh, you will, regardless of what kind of AC build you have) you'll have something to finish anyone off with.

Stripping the legs down to 35 armor is generally safe, and will net you a ton and a half or so. Also, put a 200STD engine in there instead of the 210 for a ton and a half or so too. With that, you can case up your torsos and put an extra two ammo in there, or 2 MLs, or some combo there of. You just have way too much armor in the legs and an engine that isn't a multiple of 25 is all. Also, if you're worried about only having 35 armor on your legs, put all the ammo in the side torsos and CASE them. Lose one of those and the arm falls off anyway. If you can, always put a ML or two in the center torso of the 4X. You WILL need it, and they pay for their weight very well. Infinite 10 DMG at 270M isn't trivial.

I use the same build with a ton of leg armor stripped for another ton of ammo, generally I dont run out. I started off with 2 ML in the torso but was running too hot to be of much use before I upgraded to DHS. Now I cant see much of a way to put them back without losing some ammo or changing to an XL/smaller standard.

You could always switch to an XL255. I did evenually because with the std 200 or 210 you're so slow that if you get caught in a bad spot you're screwed regardless, because your momentum is so damn slow you can't get out of dodge fast enough if you end up exposed. If you're worried about getting legged, just take some points from the arms. You're so slow I guarantee you'll lose a side torso before an arm anyway.
If you don't want to try the XL, just do what the ***** says. A pair of medium lasers gives you a backup weapon, and buffs your alpha strike damage some. You run extremely cool without the lasers anyway.
