Hi there,

What I really liked about MW 4 (which I played the most), was the feeling of travelling to waypoints, getting into battles and acheiving objectives.

MWO should have some enormous maps. Skirmishes might not be 10 v 10 battles as is usually the case currently, but rather:

2 light scout groups encounter eachother at waypoint A and duke it out. After *a while* a couple of mediums show up and tip the scales, but the outmatched lights see them coming and run for the hills before the mediums get into short range, yielding the objective (cap points, or maybe other bonuses).. Meanwhile at waypoints B and C, other encounters are taking place. The lights have moved on to other objectives, strike and disappear!

If Catapults are on a ridgeline laying LRM fire onto a battle, a flanking manouver could take them out of effectiveness. This is difficult if the flanking manouver is only 400m away and there is no territory behind the ridge..

Travelling across the map is an awesome part of piloting a mech. Either moving to cap an objective, gaining a tactical position or responding to a distress call..

HUGE MAPS! GO!

I fully agree with this. Larger maps would be awesome.

This would solve a few problems for me. It would balance speed and fire power more appropriately. It would increase match length and prioritize objectives. Currently assault might as well not have objectives.

I've been reading suggestion threads for different game modes and lots of them would be better, or only possible with larger maps. I remember it being said that there were supposed to be maps thrice the size of the current maps, but we've not seen anything like that yet. I'm hoping "desert" turns out to be that at least.

It would also be cool if lancemates could call out "LRMs incoming" and you'd still have a couple of seconds to take cover. As it is, even if I see them I can't usually make it 2 mech-lengths to cover. Obviously staying near cover is a good idea, but still.. Large maps! Go!

Yes to larger maps. It seems with the current maps that everything just ends up turing into a giant brawl.

how about large maps with cap points only your team can earn bonus for and shared points in middle for all teams.
Winner is team with most caps- you need central caps to tip balance but must cap all yours or a % of them
eg 4 caps each team and 6 in middle for all

Need incoming missle to pop up quicker and maybe with a hint of where from...left or right 3 oclock

Maps need sniper points but heat view needs nerfing to make it a skill fest rather than cheese fest, also better cover points

Also large areas of open ground for that suicide charge, with better covered routes for the tactically sensible

Heat vents to cloak your mech from hv but at cost of heating it

also maybe only capping in a 20 minute match after 5 mins have passed

etc etc

Great idea!

What about:
cappable radar towers that reveal enemy locations within a larger radius a-la-starcraft.
cappable turret control towers that target enemy mechs within some large radius (maybe artillery for the commander??)
cappable mech armor repair station (maybe this is OP)
cappable air control tower that brings aeromech overflights that target enemies??
cappable tank depot that deploys ground tanks that target enemies??

endless!

If you had multiple objectives on a large map, having multiple drop-zones would help. i.e. each lance gets dropped in a different location, near to one of the objectives, encouraging effectively three 4v4 battles at first, but in a broader context with the potential for reinforcements/support, maneuver warfare, delaying tactics, etc.

"HUGE MAPS! GO!"

Alpine and Desert. Bigger than Caustic (the largest map currently). Why do you suggest things that rea already planned for like a few months? The multiple objectives are fine, though.

I suggested it because I was unaware that Alpine and Desert were going to be huge.. I had hoped but wasn't sure.

I still think that differnt game modes are a must for a big map like this. As I mentioned earlier, the cap facilites which give boosts to the team would be great. Or maybe even a radar jammer which damages all radar capabilites?

The new Alpine is a great map, Thanks! ... You got my vote for more big, long range, maneuver maps.

What I do wish the game had a defend only game mode. Maybe like the MW4's TalonSiege Mission play map where on random rounds, the game mode would be set to, (Team A attacks, B defends), (Team B attacks, A defends), ( or Both Teams attack), Additionally, the map had duel mission goals, 1. kill comms and HQ or 2. kill both drop ships. For a total of six different combinations!
