When does the bug appear?
When I loose my locked on target shortly before my LRMs fire.
What happens?
It's hard to track since everything happens barely inside / just outside the cockpit view and you usually see nothing (especially no LRMs starting from your misslepods) or just a rain of not-exploded LRMs showering down from somewhere.
I've got 2 theories about what happens...
Theory 1:
The LRMS start with a 90° angle to my torso. So basically they are starting / try to start through the sides of the misslepods and head off to a better place in space.
Theory 2:
Another theory I came up with is that the protective caps of the misslepods don't open and "stop" all LRMs inside their tubes. Afterwards they simply "break" through the misslepod during the "this-freaking-LRM-hit-something-below-180m" animation.
Conclusion:
It's pretty annoying if you try to shoot an enemy in front of you and you pierce yourself / the wall next to you (which appears to have happend at least once) with nonexploding LRMs that... well... could have severely hurt / killed the enemy...
The faster this bug is fixed, the better.

Concerning that this bug appears independently from the mech-type, this pretty much disproves theory 2.

Confirming this, seen it happen to other mechs.

The LRMs departed into the sky between 10 and 11 o'clock with a nice grin on their warheads (didn't change my torso direction for the past 10-20 seconds).
Conclusion: the starting-angle isn't fixed to 90°.

Maybe I am mis-understanding what you are getting at.

1.) Lock on a target
2.) Press the fire-button for your LRMs
3.) Target is lost
4.) Watch your LRM depart into a random direction (usually about 90° to the mech-torso, in my case usually to the left; as described in my post above, in some cases the angle is smaller than 90°)
2.) and 3.) usually happen around the same time.

That poll is very unclear. What exactly does this mean?
"LRMs frequently take a sharp angled flight."
Does that mean they hook in a specific direction when locked on? Does that mean they launch high above a target then drop >90 degrees onto its head? The only oddity I've seen with my LRM 60 Stalker is that sometimes a few of the volleys will drop >180m into the ground in front of me if I lose lock mid-launch.
