Does this ******* module work for anyone else??? Of course it does, I've seen picture-in-picture zoom in spectator mode. So why the hell doesn't mine work? Because I've gotten screwed into buying, not one, but TWO of these modules that don't do **** for me... And now I can't buy the 'mech I was saving up.

Are they bugged or what? Because I'm only a little pissed that I've accidentally put 4mil C-bills down the drain for something that doesn't work.

EDIT FOR CLARITY: I'm not complaining about how useful the module is, because I've never actually used it. Apparently somebody though it would be smart to set a different key-bind for Advanced Zoom. ;) I had no knowledge of that.

No, they don't. The PiP is blurry -- only marginally usefull with the user.cfg heat tweak. Why did you buy two modules? They don't stack...

Both purchases were accidental. When I actually had a 'mech that was set up for long range I unlocked it without knowing that I had to purchase it then as well. Well, I sold that mech and put the module on a Cataphract. I realized for the third time that the Cataphract WAS NOT the 'mech for me so I sold that while the module was on it.

So beings you don't have the option to sell modules from the 'mech lab, I thought I still had it in inventory and decided to equip it to a different 'mech, but no I had to buy the useless thing again and now I can't sell it at all.

yeah this module sucks. I'd rather it just increase our second zoom level to 2.0

What he said. Go into your settings and bind it to whatever button or key you like. Also, it's pretty terribad anyway. I only use it soemtimes to target a teeniny blob on thermal to create a slightly larger teeniny blob on thermal.

Blasphemy.

The "Grey/Brown/Greenish Static Rectangle Generator" module works perfectly!

The only reason I use it when I'm sniping at a target I can already see post 800m away and I need a slighter better mouse sensitivity.

If you're playing on any resloution lower than 1900x1280, don't even bother using it. You need a big screen and a high resolution for it to ever be worth it, right now.

Honestly, a quick fix for this would be to, when activated, the PiP is clear and the rest of your screen is blurry. Hey look, I just fixed the module :P

I live by the zoom module at over 500m.

I use it on my CPLT-K2, STK-3F, and all of my Atlai. I only own 3 zoom modules, though.

Due to technical limitations, a crystal clear image cannot be done.

Even still, the zoom module works just like a modern digital zoom.

Just make it add another level of zoom power already.

I see this suggestion a lot, but I enjoy seeing my peripherals.

Advanced Zoom needs to refine your torso movement like the Zoom in MW4 did. You could easily use that one on the move for distant targets, but had to go to normal view for medium and closer range. Anyway, MW4 has the Sniper's Zoom. MWO's is kind of useless. You have to be parked somewhere to use it and the crosshair still jumps around.

advanced zoom is a waste of money at the moment, and why on earth is it in a little box anyway

it needs some tuning for sure...PGI said they work on it, but they have issues with rendering the same scene twice (which that module does basically) without causing heavy performance problems... i guess someday it WILL show a more clean picture...*shrgs*

but i wouldn´t mind if it just increased the zoomlevel of the 2nd zoom, or added a third

this kind of pic in pic zoom was a feature from MW3, that many CBT testers wanted to see :P

I used to find it occasionally effective. However, I freely admit to the majority opinion of it being worthless. I used to find it useful on targets around 600M and out, when using thermal vision. The image of a mech I get on a map like River City Night using any vision mode is pretty abstract. Sniping with thermals while using zoom module let me be able to make a bit more sense of where the hit locations (CT, RT, LT etc..) were on my target.

However, I am generally getting a bug now where the screen triangles are not staying where they are supposed to be be. Its hard to explain.

Posted Image
Before I took this picture I was looking to my 6:00 across the water, I got these 2 contacts. I turned around 180 degrees and then took this picture. The red triangles are the two targets in the water/around the rock that I was looking at.

While using zoom module, the friendly and enemy triangles that should be outside the PiP scramble all over my screen and the triangle of the person I am actually trying to target is not actually above them. The triangle disaster makes it totally impossible to use. I have had a harder time getting a screen cap of this.

So in summary, even I think the PiP is total garbage. It now utterly fails at the one thing it was marginally useful for before.

The real question is why do you sell all the items when you sell your mech? If you sell just the chassis you will have a stockpile of parts and engines, allowing you to alter your config and role (especially on newly purchased mechs) free of charge.

For the record, PiP is awesome cause you keep your periphery awareness.
Zoom module is just plain out too low a resolution, make it PiP of 1.5x mode, that'll increase the resolution of the PiP section enough to make it at least possible to see things without making it a must have for every mech.
As an added bonus that would make those atari looking scan lines much finer and nicer looking
