It took about 90 seconds once I launched a mission for my 2 month old computer to go into a thermal shutdown. What gives?

full PC specs? (Processor, motherboard, graphics card)

could just need new thermal paste.. fans may have died?

i've seen cases where the GPU fan doesn't kick in right so you may need to download MSI afterburner or something to manually crank that fan up..

1) Check temps:

http://www.cpuid.com.../hwmonitor.html

Great program for monitoring CPU/GPU temps.

2) Make sure all fans are working/blow out all fan ducts and heat sinks with compressed air.

I wouldn't THINK that that much dust could accumulate in 2 months, but never know.

3) Two months old. . home built or store bought? If store bought, monitor temps and contact manufacturer. If home built, check your thermal paste, get some IC7 Diamond or Arctic silver 5 [now going out of style] and follow the directions on the respective website for application. Remember, a little dab'll do ya.

4) Ambient temps in the room in question? the higher the ambient, the higher the max temps.

Since I put a used Intel Pentium D 945 ( instead of a D 820 and the original P4 630 ) I also have more problems with heat ... but into my old used HP DC7600c, which I got with the P4 & 1 GB RAM for 50€, I dont want to put DHS ;)
Looks like I have to live with the louder fan ...
