I have a few requests and they may seem 'unreasonable'.

A. I formally request an IN-GAME chat lobby to chat with fellow mechwarriors and to perhaps schedule pick up 8v8 games. We have no real universal way of doing that. Sure we have C3, TS3, and This Forum but the responses are hardly 'instant'.

B. I request private matches to be enabled so we can actually have league play. ( I heard rumors about this being implemented in the future.) I am going to request it anyways.

C. I would like to see how many people are online total to better detect "Peak" hours.

An in game chat lobby would be nice. I think a pre-game lobby before matches would be even greater.

I don't know where a pre game lobby stands in the development list, but I hope the part of CW that has it comes soon.

Definitely a must have, the thing that most amazed me in MWO was the lack of this functionality.

A general chat in the 'Mechlab would be fine. "Private" lobbies on the other hand...I don't see that happen anytime soon.

truth is i am finding this miss from pgi amazing..you plan an online game, pvp, and you do not implement from the start a game chat/lobby ? is like making a car but not mounting the steering wheel.

Private matches were confirmed in the latest ask the devs answer.

True, but I would give this feature an higher priority than "eventually". Organized drops is what made MW community thrive in the past and random drops are becoming quickly uninteresting, random drops with ELO will not be better in this regard.

Long story short, this is the result of the multiplayer model being based on modern one-off match multiplayer instead of the classic FPS multiplayer server browser format of dedicated servers rotating through maps with a set configuration (some servers Assault-only, some cold maps only, some daytime maps only, some all maps, etc), so that players can browse the available servers in a browser window, see the servers' settings, and join one has an open space for them, and they can choose to stay connected and playing matches so long as they want to, vs having to find a new server after every match.

I believe in the 30 Q&A, they said lobby AFTER CW so we are looking at 2014 before we get a lobby.

To be honest, they should be focused on community building features like a lobby and challenge matches so that 8v8 do not have to try to sync drop just to play with friends or other clans. This would go a long way to providing replay value while waiting for mor maps and game modes.

Well we've waited how many years anyway just for a basic MWO?

The fact that this feature isn't a priority over apparently adding more "great" HERO mechs is a pretty worrying sign.

Yes, I know it's probably different people doing different jobs, but really at this point I am not buying any sort of MC out of principle.

I'll go one further and say the game needs a full on lobby (game browser) system for match making as well. You know, like MW3/4 had.

I disagree, it's not a worrying sign at all. It's just not as high on their priority list as we'd like.

This illustrates the notion PGI seems to have that they won't be hemorraging players before that lobby comes around. Heck, I've put in tons of matches since CB and picked up another game for a month here and there as a result.

To be fair everyone said the same thing about the lag shield fixes... and while still not perfect, it's a ton better than before and much, much sooner than pretty much anyone thought.
