I think I should claify why I suggested Clan fire mandrill:
They're a group that is highly factionalized, are quick to addopt new members but refuse to conform to the social norms of others, and are considered extremely hard to comprehend by those not of the clan.
Also, they had nothing to do with the invasion so it would be a good way to flip lore nuts the bird.

Well, I'd say a better comparison to a cannon group would be Clan Snow Raven. It ties in neatly with our fractious internal politics, distrust of outsiders, and our strong ties to space combat.
