as a dual gauss fanboy, I'd have to say unless you're planning to poptart with a gaus and two ppc's, your choice is entirely between the k2 and the 4x (or im), and I would like to share with you my observations between the two.

k2 pros:

guns are closer together. closer together means better convergence on all ranges
guns are at cockpit level, meaning if you can see it, you can shoot it
if you have an auxiliary energy weapon, you can put it on the same crosshair as your gauss making followups to headshots easier
odd shape makes it easier to dodge shots if you know how to ridge or rock
can also fit two ac/20's
dual ppc is very enjoyable as well

the most annoying thing about the k2 is slow aim and limited range makes killing lights an interesting proposal on varied terrain if you're dual gauss or autocannon.

4X pros:
5 more tons to play with
head looks larger, but hitbox is smaller
better range of motion on guns
guns get to target quicker
people tend to overlook it because it doesn't stand out as much as a catapult
every now and then you can throw on 4 ac2's for laughs

the most annoying thing about the 4X is the gun height. if you dont factor it into your movement you may wind up just a little frustrated. also the crotch laser can be difficult to finish with sometimes because it uses a different crosshair. takes some getting used to. or you can just buy the im and put a laser on the arm. and while the im appeals to me, i still like the 4x more because of the ballistic hardpoints.

in fact between the two, i'd say they have very different positioning styles because of the gun height

with all that said though, i'm looking forward to the jagermech. the ridging potential is insane.

Best 2xGauss 'Mech so far is Ilya. 4X is too slow, 3D has to mount one in side torso and Pult K2 has to mount them both in side torso. Remember how Gauss explodes when being breathed at.

HOWEVER, the next release would be JagerMech. Every Ballisticphilia's wildest dream.

4x is not too slow for gauss!

for anything else, yes.
