CBS Tanker Original Idea and posting by "Sparkie."

CBS Police Security Reserve Officer Brandon wiped the sweat from his face leaving traces of carbon upon it from his charred gloves. The pain the gesture caused
was totally lost upon him, he looked around the battlefield and swore silently. The Reserve Unit was shattered but that was expected, a mere
tank brigade could hardly match a Mech Star in firepower but what the Reserve Unit lacked in firepower they had made up for in Spirit (yes the
Blood Spirits name sake was alive and very well represented in this non-warrior class unit). The Police Security Reserve Unit was ordered to stand before
this HATED Star Adder Medium mech unit and to slow it down and inflict as much damage as possible on it to allow the CBS IOTA Galaxy to
regroup and counter attack. Yes, this is the life of a tanker, once the king of the battlefield but now relegated to the roll of at best a harasser,
unable to stand to the new darling of the battlefield the Mech.
Reserve Officer Brandon is now acting commander of this shattered unit once composed of a trinary of Combat Tanks.
The few remaining vehicles, two Mars heavy assault tanks and three Morrigu, counting his own, the pride of the Blood
Spirits tank force and two Shamesh light recon units also of Blood Spirit design. A grand total of seven vehicles out of
thirty that had been fielded.
He stared out at the carnage, it was terrifying to stand before a mech star and watch as friends and yes loved ones fell before the advance
of the Star Adders on their latest assault. Although he was a free-birth from the scientist class he had stood his ground upon the battlefield today as did so many
others of what normally was considered in many Clan cultures the sub classes of citizens; not worthy of anything but contempt from the mighty warrior
classes. But in the Blood Spirits at least, anyone was worthy of being trained to protect the Clan as a whole even the lesser free-births.
Truly, it was proven today even the lesser classes could fight and protect all they hold dear. Brandon looked with pride on the great sacrifice;
they had done well. Eventhough over three-quarters of “his” unit was destroyed, the charred and broken remains of both a light and medium mech of the Hated Star Adders lie amongst the
ruins of this CBS tanker force, a bloody tribute to the ferocity of the Blood Spirit Clansmen. He only hoped the delay had been enough for the main body of the
CBS mech force to rally and repulse the invaders.
It was impossible to tell from the battlefield and the sounds of war in the distance if the Blood Spirits had been able to carry the day.
Brandon looked around and called into his comms for a total accountability of the tanker force. His mind raced to the one he shared his
life's work and dreams with, was Salona among the ones to survive? He could not let this thought go any further it would paralyze him in his
ability to perform his mission. He was well aware of the horrendous cost the holding action had inflicted upon "his" new unit.
The Butcher's bill was coming in and the results were very, very bleak. A lump surfaced in his throat as one after another of the stranglers reported
in; still no Salona. Her tank star had taken the brunt of the assault and it appeared that all vehicles had been destroyed. The salvage teams and
med units had arrived and were starting the extractions now.
His radio crackled to life, Point Commander Saverain of the CBS Crimson Tigers Recon unit was calling for all remaining forces to block the retreat of the
fleeing Star Adder mechs and to delay them until the victorious CBS mechs could arrive and destroy the interlopers. Officer Brandon feeling his great
loss was quick to call for the remaining Heavy Tank units to proceed to the intercept point and to inflict as much damage upon the fleeing
Adders as possible before the last tank was destroyed. He like so many others had suffered too much today and would throw themselves at these
fleeing Adders; their vengeance would be unmerciful.
The damaged Shadow Cat arose from behind the hill one full side crumpled, smoking and holed from the running battle with the CBS Iota Galaxy mechs.
Point Commander Dermen had never experienced such a viscous counterattack as the Blood Spirits had unleashed upon them. He could not believe that a mere
Armored Star could have cost him two mechs and have done significant damage to the third. His orders had been clear, to push forward as the lead
element to cut the CBS Khan's Command Star off and tie them down long enough for the Assaults to overtake them. They had run into the Blood Spirit Tankers at
Terrigan Point and was savaged by that tank unit, it was unbelievable the damage these ready reserves had inflicted upon his front line forces. When they
had destroyed nearly the entire unit and fought their way past it, they proceeded over the mountain pass not to find the Khans Command Star of mechs
(what a wonderful prize that would have been) but the whole damn Iota Galaxy awaiting them.
The heavys and assaults of the Star Adders had arrived shortly after his reduced Star of three mechs. The Blood Spirits showed no mercy attacking
and destroying a large portion of the attacking force then forcing the rest of the Star Adder forces to flee the field. It was obvious to him that the Blood Spirits had
laid a trap and it was designed to destroy the entire force. These hated Blood Spirits were unlike any of the Clans, their motives and tactics
were unthinkable. The Adders had been correct in recognizing that the Blood Spirits had drifted from Kerensky's path.
As he topped the hill he surveyed his Clanmates go down to the LRMs of an unseen Blood Spirit mech and so he was the last of his Star standing.
He swiveled and took one last step into the clearing at which time CBS Reserve Officer Brandon ordered the concentrated fire from the seven remaining
tanks of the Police Security Reserve (with only seven still functional from a Trinary of 30 tanks!) upon the damaged Shadow Cat, Point Commander Dermen never saw
the fire that erupted upon his mech causing it to crumple immediately. As his reactor went critical his escape pod auto launched, he was unconscious when the
Tanker Unit targeted and destroyed his escape pod. Although a few of those present felt it was a cowardly act, they dared not mention it, for all knew
the new Commander had lost all he had lived for in the previous battle.
Yes, Clansmen can become deeply emotional when they are pushed beyond their ability to respond, particularly when they must watch as those they love die.

CBS Tanker part 2

The Blood Spirits were in fine form after crushing the latest Star Adder attack, more than a little celebrating was occurring because of the resounding victory. The Khan and most of the Keshik were in the makeshift Command Bunker reviewing satellite video of the conflict and discussing a possible retaliation for this incursion. All present were in agreement that this assault will not be over looked and that a reprisal was in order. Khan Gremlich Johns stood over the assembled Keshik members and looked out far beyond the confines of the Command Bunker, he choose his words with care as he started to speak.
While this high level discussion was taking place Galcom Galen was not present, instead the Commander of the Iota Galaxy was seeing to his troops and establishing a security perimeter. Though he should have been in the briefing he felt a great unease at having the full Keshik attending a meeting in a makeshift Command Bunker in the middle of a battlefield. Galcom Galen had taken it as his personal mission to oversee the security procedures. He looked over the field and was perplexed, although he did not know why, (a true warrior he had the warriors sense of the impending threat) the defenses were firming up nicely with several Stars of Mechs performing security for the immediate area, a Star of Aerospace Fighters was covering the skies, still a sense of uneasiness rolled over him.
"My fellow Clansman of Clan Blood Spirit, the time has come to finally and decisively removed this thorn in our flesh that continues to fester. We must prepare for the total eviction of the Star Adders from our land! This final attack has costs us a good deal more than we can accept so I propose an all out", the air alert alarms began hammering and all looked up to the sky but the fortified roof of the bunker blocked their view. Then as one, these great warriors of Clan Blood Spirit sprinted to the door desiring only to get into their mechs and punish the interlopers. Then it happened, proximity alerts started sounding and several of the Aerospace Fighters altered course sharply. As the Galcom watched as two small dots appeared at a blazing speed, directly on a beeline for the Command Bunker as the alarms shrieked loudly. The Keshik and Khan spilled out of the bunker and made for their mechs, the dots were now growing very large and the Riflemen on the surrounding hills opened up and began to pour munitions into the air, several small blossoms of flame and smoke exploded into the air as CBS Aerospace Fighters were tagged by the approaching Adder Fighters, chaos ruled the skies as the Galcom watched as a few of the CBS fighters flew into the streams of Rifleman fire only to burst into flames and come crashing to the ground.
"NO, NO!", the Galcom screamed as the Adder fighters carved their way through the dense cloud of firepower that the Blood Spirits were sending up. "NOT ON MY WATCH!," he screamed again as he thumbed the fire control computer and started to blast away at the Adder Fighters. He charged across the field to shield the Khan, who was tossed like a rag doll to the ground by a nearby explosion before reaching his mech.
In his cockpit Terrioto wheeled around searching the sky for the hated Adder pilots, Point Commander Talibat's Aerospace Fighter spewed flame in front of him as the Adders dove through the covering escort craft. As Talibat's wing-man he had just been relieved of the duty to support his lead and dove after the hated Adder craft. He engaged his rocket engines and felt the slam of gees as he accelerated forward in a way his craft was never meant to do in atmospheric flight. He closed the gap quickly and released a long burst of UAC5 shells into the engine frame of the wing-man of the lead Adder, it peeled off and exploded right in front of Terrioto forcing him to pitch wildly to the port side to avoid an impact that would have killed him at the speed he was traveling. He overshot the Lead Adder and felt the punch of UAC rounds riddling his cockpit, his controls went dead as he plummeted to the ground at the rocket's enhanced speeds. Terrioto fought the controls and at the last second popped his escape pod and drifted to the ground. He hoped with all his might that he had help save the Keshik.
The Galcom charged and stood over the Khan firing into the Adder Aerospace Fighter as it dove with the pilot's single-minded thought of inflicting the most damage to the Blood Spirits as possible. The Adder pilot recognized the marking on the Galcom's Assault Mech and fired continually into it. The Galcom's mech was absorbing a terrific pounding from the Aerospace Fighter but he knew his mech could absorb all it could dish out on him. He feared for the Khan exposed beneath him. The Oathmaster and saKhan both rushed to pull Khan Gremlich clear of the mêlée, all three taking grievous wounds but they managed to pull him clear.
Finally, Mechwarrior Rebala in one of the Rifleman upon the ridge, got the shot she needed to cripple the hated Adder Fighter. Unfortunately the pilot was dead and the fighter continued on its trajectory directly toward the Galcom's mech. All looked on in horror as the Galcom braced his mech firing to the end into the Adder Aerospace fighter. He screamed, "My Khan I have failed you!", as he thought the Khan was still at his feet and he tried to catch the hurtling Adder fighter with his mech, the impact was devastating and the Galcom joined his legacy with all the heroes of the Blood Spirits. His legacy will be sung about for many years to come as the Clansman who saved his Khan and the Keshik from certain death.
The Khan, saKhan and Oathmaster were hospitalized immediately and stabilized. A great blow had been dealt to the victorious Blood Spirits and the rage that resulted would rule the Blood Spirits thirst for vengeance for a very long time.
