Alright, been looking around for a bit and I'm noticing talk about all these weapon types and thier effectiveness. In one post I saw someone claim that the ERPPC has a 1/1 heat/damage ratio. Anothre posts talks about streak SRM6 being more effective.

Looking at the dev weapons and the timeline I'm wondeirng where these weapons are comming from?

I'm primarily a TT games when it came to Battletech, and if they are following those timelines/Damage ratios then alot of the information I'm seeing is just plain wrong at the "3050" time frame the IS ERPPC was not a 1/1 heat ratio. SSRM-4 and 6's didn't exhist.

All of this talk about replacing things with "more effective versions" just seem to be wishful thinking, but in the long run could "ruin" it for alot of people who are "building" things ahead of time.

Or am I missing a post somewhere?

Well comparing the ERPPC to a PPC, (the IS versions only, obviously) you see the same tonnage(7 tons), same crit slots(3 crits), same damage (10), but the ERPPC has 10 damage/15 heat/3 extra hexes range vs the PPC with 10 damage/10 heat. Trading more range for a significantly higher heat buildup, and no additional damage.

The Clan ERPPC is 15 heat/15 damage/extra range, so is a bit more bang for your buck weight-wise and offers the same heat:damage ratio as the IS PPC. But, for now we do not need to worry about the Clan ERPPC.

http://mwomercs.com/...-devs-1-answer/ Has all of the weapons available. the IS ER PPC at the time was a 1.5:1 Damage to heat ratio. and only the SSRM-2 is available.

What people type in a forum does not necessarily relate to any fact at all ... (removed) won't let something as trivial as logic get in the way of their arguements, forum posters won't let fact stop them from posting. This is as much sense as I can make on this topic.

There's two branches of experience coming into MWO.

One are the tabletop BT fans like me (who also did Mechwarrior, natch). We tend to have a better grasp on how the original weaponry worked, when it actually existed in-canon, etc.

Then you get folks whose only experience comes from stuff like MW4. For them, they're used to Clantech, Clantech everywhere as the "default" weapon choices- so when they think "ER PPC", they think what a TT player would say is a "Clan ER PPC"- the 15 heat, 15 damage, lighter weight and lower crit version, while a TT player thinks "15 heat, 10 damage, regular weight and crits" instead.
