The Raven skidded to a stop, its two lasers flashed and drew a line across the enemy Atlas Mech in superheated drops of Armour. Its Srm's fired, and were sent spiraling towards the mountain of steel. Four of the six Srm's smashed into the Atlases left arm, leaving a gaping hole were its medium lasers should have been, while the other two went wide and exploded harmlessly. The Atlas returned fire, its Auto cannon winking death in the bright sunshine. The Raven swirled, then faked left and just dodged the shells. It jumped, and fired its weapons again. As it went souring up in the air, a flock of Lrms came crashing down onto the Raven's back, knocking it to the ground. As its pilot struggled to right the machine, the Srm ammo in its leg exploded, blowing of half of the leg. It's faceplate burst of as the pilot ejected. The Atlas turned to thank his savior, when three large lasers melted his already damaged arm, it dropped to the ground, detached. The Atlas pilot gasped as a Stalker climbed down a hill to meet the Atlas in a deadly dance of power. The Atlas pilot checked his scans, but the Mech failed to react to his IFF scans. The Stalker fired first, its three large lasers and two medium lasers packed a punch, and unfortunately for the Atlas pilot, they swept across the cockpit, blowing out his thermal scanners. He reeled back, clutching at his eyes, allowing the Stalker to fire its Lrms before his anti-missile system kicked in. The missiles smashed into the Mech, destroying its Auto cannon and Srm tubes. The pilot fired his lasers, but haste made him miss. The Stalker fired its lasers and heat flushed into the Atlas, causing the pilot to sweat all the more. The Atlas charged, knowing that it was out matched at the distance between the two Mechs. The Stalkers pilot realized what it was doing and backtracked, firing more Lrms. The Atlas pilot ignored the damage done to his Mech and kept moving. He fired his Lrms and cursed as his ammo ran out. But the Lrms had disoriented the Stalker pilot and allowed the Atlas to charge into it. They both went down with a flurry of arms and legs. The non-humanoid shaped Stalker was at a disadvantage, as it was more difficult to get it to its feet. But the Atlas had already risen, firing his lasers into the Mech, he smashed its knee at the joint. Taking a large swing back, the Atlas pounded his foot into the Stalkers cockpit, killing the pilot. Stepping back, the pilot breathed a breath of relief. As the crowds went wild, the pilot had won the famous competition, and won himself ten billion C-Bills. As he stood back, the only survivor of the forty fallen Mechs, he roared and shouted like a buffalo. “Champion!”
Here's a little idea of mine, All vs All. How would this work?
(And yes, I did wright that short story.)
