Yes, between the Jagermech and Centurion, we have a nice showing (although the Kuritans have the Dragon and some variants of other mechs, like the Catapult and Trebuchet).

Sadly, even in the pnp rpg and the board game, I very much play short ranged brawler types. Even made my Catapult C4 use 4xSRM6 and 2xMed. lasers before I even knew what a splat cat was. I do abhor the A1 splat cat, I don't like being useless if out of ammo. Hopefully we will get the Enforcer too. I know, it is just a Centurion with jump jets, but I like the aesthetics of the mech.

There is also the Blackjack (BattleMech 18) - designed and built by GM (a FedSuns company) and mounting twin autocannons (as the FedSuns is the "House of Dakka")... :D

Also, as of the announcement of the Orion, the FedSuns has double or more the emblem/insignia representation of all of the other Factions and is only one behind the combination of Merc Corps. :D

Additionally, both the Hatchetman and the Axman were designed at the NAIS by Dr. B. Banzai.

What the hell?! I just saw this movie the other day! I can't seriously imagine how they fit that character into BT

Although the full name of unit leader "Dr. B. Banzai" is never given, it is obviously a reference to the Buckaroo Banzai movie. Several of the individuals in the unit have names from the movie, including Rawhide and Perfect Tommy. Additionally, the Team's 1st battalion was named the Hong Kong Cavaliers, the name of Buckaroo's band in the movie. It was eventually phased out of the BattleTech franchise by renaming the unit, presumably due to real world legal concerns.

movie The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension fantastic movie btw

Team Banzai has been part of the BattleTech lore since the beginning. It's probably one of the only merc units to have never worked for anyone except House Davion. I've always loved the references in Stackpole's books that tie in to the movie, like the watermelon in the vise thing..

To quote myself from the why Davion thread...

Quote

Well Davion's arent always the good guys. But in the series of wars after Stefan Amaris first upset star league there is no true good guy side.

That said, The Federated Commonwealth (Davion - Steiner Alliance) endures for another 7 years. Until Victor's younger sister gets too big for her Lyran-Federated Suns britches and wants a grab at power. With a flower bomb and a series of deft political moves destroys everything her mother and father worked toward, most notably her own mother.

Despite the dissolution of the Innersphere's strongest alliance, (at the time) Victor plays a major role in ensuring the first offensive against the clans.

If youre looking for a house with a moral backbone and the balls to back it up look no further than the Federated Suns.

Of course you could always align with the independent FRR and watch the clans ravage your worlds to the breaking point... Then again with the Marik's being led by a DNA confirmed Illegitimate, what do you have to lose?

Theres always the subversive/Insane Capellan's or the rigid to a fault Kuritans. The Dragon is a mighty state but until it fell to younger and more wise leadership ignored everything except for the strict code of Bushido.

In case you don't quite yet feel Davion Pride, Remember the decisive result of the 4th succession war and the gains the FedComs made.

I saw an audio reading of the source book for House Davion, it looks like an older version so I'm not sure how helpful it would be.

Keep in mind ((and I say this as a pro-Davion)) Victor Steiner-Davion commits probably one of the nastier political moves in the IS at the time. He has Thomas Marik's dying son ((who is on New Avalon getting treatment for cancer)) killed and replaced by a duplicate in order to keep blackmailing the FWL into providing cheap mechs and repair kits to the Fed-Com.

As a point of clarification: Victor did not have Joshua Marik killed; young Marik died as a result of the leukemia and complications resulting from the treatments.

Also, the providing of materials wasn't a result of blackmail: it was an agreement between the two states wherein the League provides materials to the FedCom & the Combine in exchange for providing Joshua Marik with treatments for leukemia; When young Marik died, a double was created to provide the appearance of continued treatment in order to maintain the flow of war materials.

An under-handed move on Victor's part, true, but nowhere near as malicious as the quoted post made it sound.

Telling a father that his son is still alive even though he isn't anymore, just so he will keep you supplied with military hardware isn't malicious?

I'm pretty sure from reading the novels that Joshua Marik was still alive but the doctors realized the NAIS couldn't cure his cancer. At that point Victor gave the order to go ahead and put his father's plan into motion which involved "pulling the plug" on Joshua which killed him. At that point his body was frozen so that eventually after the Fed-Com got all the parts and materials it was going to get from the FWL the fake would die and the real Joshua's body would be delivered back to Thomas Marik.

To say this entire plan was Ghoulish and Evil is an understatement. It cost Victor a war with the FWL and CC ((Which the Fed-Com lost)) and gave Katherine Steiner-Davion the justification she needed to split the Lyran portion of the Fed-Com away from the Davion side.

Not giving a father the chance to see his dying son one last time so you can continue to get war materials from his realm in exchange for "trying to cure his son of cancer" is just evil.

That said in the end it wasn't even the real Thomas Marik that Victor Steiner-Davion betrayed. The real Thomas Marik was in Comstar and would eventually become "The Master" and head of the Word of Blake. The guy who is in charge of the FWL is a Comstar double agent.
