The next level of matchmaking should include stacking equal sized pugs of any number to each side and filling up with Lone-Wolfs (maybe even qualified lone wolf - eg - excluding trial drivers and players with less than 50 games played.)

honestly, this should have been the very first level from start^^ then we wouldn´t have all the problems we have... but i´ve been saying this on the very first day this topic came up, and many times after

and i guess it shouldn´t be a huge problem, since -afaik- most groups would contain 3, 5 and 6 and some in between members...

i guess there´s enough possibilities to make this work...

It might even make sense to put trials into a completely own row eventually. And maybe disallow groups in it completely. Some sure still farm in there, but it would be much easier for beginners.

But with limited playerbase, single full row is better than several empty ones.

Without fair matching this game will always have a limited playerbase.

I am sure that the result from separating the 8 man groups was very enlightening for the devs and that they will do some hard choices in the future based on this experience. The days are numbered for the easy mode groups that ran from the 8 man que for easy stomping in the 4 man que.

It was good for the srs bizniss players, upsetting for people who wanted to play with more than 4 but didn't have 8. Little to no change for pugs.

The people who were into playing the game semi competitively before the update probably had a field day in 8v8 when all the 4man groups formed into 8s and promptly got their ***** handed to them on a silver platers. And then went back into pugs/4mans. But it sounds like the 8v8 que is for the most part deserted.

Should be interesting to see what happens on the 19th.

No.
We're at most 40 people who still play 8 manz. Everybody else is doing ghetto stomping in normal 4 manz, or synching for 8 man ghetto stomping.

I would double your number Vass...I'm on for about 8 hours a night and 'try' to grab 8s whenever possible. You're right the selection is few, but even TS randoms are starting to get into it on my hours. Our 2 playtimes are pretty much opposite...you're getting on, while I'm about ready to pass out. Heck our group alone has about 20 regular rotating players on a night, and I've yet to play against KONG...just opposite hours is all.

I feel that the playerbase for the 8 mans has increased over the last weeks. Probably as more and more players and groups "graduate" from the PUG-Traininggrounds.

The learning curve is steep though - some 8-man teams are so ahead of the rest in tweaking the limits, that the 8:0 spanking (as in getting "spunken") is allways part of the diet despite having a decent team.

It will get interesting when they open the game for 12 vs 12. I feel they really need to improve the in-game command system (a lot!) in order enable the coordination of 12 players. (voice will just get really crowded).

(Of coursse getting full twelve man groups will be even more of a challenge - if they keep insisting on having to drop as a pure group.)

I ran into two last night. Got a good laugh out of it, too. One group was dumb enough to advertize their supercool guild.

Your observations are a bit off. We, alone, have more than 40 people who do 8-mans. Not as often as I'd like, but they are happening every day.

There is a challenge playing all sorts of ways. Hopefully when the game is more polished the matchmaker will just take preferences into account, e.g. a player picks settings like this:

1) 4 man random vs 4 man team
2) All solos only
3) Any

It's easy. You recognize the names, and who they run with. They're usually all loaded with goldtags, and have the same faction symbol.

Many will use macros to spam their clan homepage, or the ever-classic POWER DOWN OR BE DESTROYED. This game isn't exactly huge, you know.

You can also tell from the mechs...

so if you see me (for example) in a game, you automatically assume i'm in a premade? I've been known to pug on occasion, and i'm sure there are plenty of others that roll in known groups that also do pug matches solo (or with 1 other person).

you assume too much, always.
