Hi guys...

Once i am driving a Spider 5D with ecm. An ECM Raven with TAG comes in ECM range (< 180 m) and can still fire streaks to my tiny ECM Spider.

I tried to counter him, he can still fire ssrm. I tried to jam him, he can still fire ssrm. What can i do, to avoid firing ssrms to me in fight against him?

greetings no1337

Just the only thing - buy 3L with SSRMs and strike him back. No exceptions.

If he switches to counter mode he nullifies your ECM "cloak/bubble" while also losing his. He (and everyone else that locks you) now can use lock on weapons (ssrm/lrm) against you. Your allies can also use their lockon weapojns against him.

You can only try to escape 180m+ or move into another ECM "cloak/bubble" of a friendly ECM mech that runs in disrupt mode because his ECM in counter mode will only counter 1 of your cloaks.

TAG has nothing to do with this it only works if you are 180m+ away from a mech that runs ECM in disrupt mode. If you TAG him from 180m+ away it can be locked on by you and all friendly units as long as you keep the TAG on him. Once you move into his ECM "cloak/bubble" (180m radius) TAG will not net you any benefits.

(Yes tag not working for you inside the bubble doesnt make any sense...)

Advice:

- Lock him no matter what ® to make your team aware of his presence.

- If you are in a spider try to get away while using/staying in cover and maybe utilising your jumpjets if it nets you any advantage in gaining cover. Do not use jets deliberately it will only cost you speed and streaks still hit mid-air.

- Get back to your team. If you have any other mechs running ECM try to utilise their cloak/bubble.

- People hate the 3L because its the epitome of a no-skill lols mech this helps sometimes as they will start to shoot at it. Todays patch will introduce a fix that should net better results of lasers being fired upon fast moving targets, this should help with the fact that people tend to ignore enemy lights if there are other larger/easier to hit targets in range ^_^

Unfortunately, in a fight between two ECM equipped mechs, there is no way to completely prevent one of them from using ssrms against the other. If you, in your spider, set your ECM to counter mode, it does nothing to his ssrms. What it does is that, if he had his ECM in disrupt mode, it would cancel out the ECM and prevent him from jamming *you*, but it does nothing either way to his ability to use ssrms. If you set your ECM to disrupt mode, it would stop any *normal* mech from using ssrms against you because they would be jammed, but since he has ECM he can just set his ECM to counter mode and nullify your jamming and still be able to use streaks.

Bottom line, in a 1v1 with ECM mechs, either both of them can use ssrms (because one is in disrupt mode and the other is in counter mode... or, I suppose, if both are in counter mode for some reason) or neither of them can use ssrms (because both are in disrupt mode). However, you can never *force* the second situation to apply, because you can't stop him from switching into counter mode if he wants to use his ssrms.

Yep, if your ECM is being countered (default to switch between disrupt and counter is the 'J' key) you gain no benefit from it. It's nullified.

Also, if you manage to keep between 180 and 200 meters, you CAN still target and lock/fire SSRMs on an enemy target, even if they are running ECM.
