Which gamepad?

So, after looking around at all the info on this forum, I have to ask, which gamepad do (will) you like best for MWO? Is there any information about which ones they'll recommend?

I already have a joystick which I'll probably use when I'm at home, but for travel, a game pad would be swell.

I don't really have a brand preference here, so sell me on your favorites! I would prefer if it was wired, and didn't have force feedback or need batteries.

That was helpful. Thanks.

At least we're getting the trolls out of the way early on.

look at the letters you are getting sleepy

use a joystick
J O Y S T I C K...

ok might not have worked :)

A gamepad is probably not exactly the best input device I am afraid, I fear you are better of with a mouse than a gamepad. Since I loath these terrible things (Gamepads...) I fear I can give no "directions" except look for a sturdy transportable joystick...

Well if you want to use joystick not console-game-something i may advice you Defender Cobra M5 - cheap, accurate, handy and full of buttons.

As I already said, I have a joystick which I will use when I am at home. But it's a bit too big to lug around, so I wanted a gamepad as well. Thanks for suggesting a joystick however. lol

Yes, because a concept joystick is also a gamepad. Thanks. lol

Come on, you can do better than that. The other two guys at least tried. You fail at troll.

I've always been partial to the wired/wireless xbox controllers on PC for other games. I haven't tried using one in MWO but I would give it a try if you have one around already.

So, MWO supports gamepads? Sorry for the Necro-post but I didn't want to start a whole thread just to ask that.

I've tried using a MS Xbox Gamepad with MWO, The buttons have to be remapped, and MWO dosnt seem to recognize the Right stick as is..(its like having 2 mice.) And microsoft offers no support to re-map the pad. And i havn't any programs that will remap the pad and load the profile into the game. I have heard Xpadder would do that, but he only copy of it i could find runs in Win 98. There might be another post on the forums to do workarounds for this.

I don't recommend you a gamepad. Best configuration is pedals+throttle+mouse+track ir (when and if they're going to support it). I assure you that it's really funny and more immersive than any other controllers.

Logitech G-13. Some fellow Marik pilots use a Nostromo from Razer but I prefer the G-13 all day for MWO.

They (PGI) don't even officially recommend joysticks, so I don't think a gamepad will be a good choice for this game. I tried a Joystick once and couldn't hit a specific component on a Atlas, much less on a scout

Mouse and keyboard are the controllers of choice here!

I think that comes down to the variety of different joysticks out there and buttons on them. They seemed to endorse the logitech 3d pro for a while back in alpha. As for a the OP I have yet to find a gamepad I like to use on this game. So depending on the mech its either mouse and keyboard or my joystick and that is for the responsiveness of the joystick. (horrible for super fast 125+k/ph mechs)

Mouse and keyboard man. The only way to fly... errrr... Pilot a big stompy robot.

I feel like the gamepad or joystick can not match the mouse and keyboard while playing MW:O. Mouse has unparalleled accuracy. I used to use a Logitech G13 gameboard for the off hand and it worked OK. But in the end the keyboard won out.

I think this all kind of comes down to person preference. I prefer the PS3 style pad with the dual analogues at the bottom of the controller. It always just felt more natural for me and I think with having the dual analogues it might be easier to control the mech.

When using the PS3 controller you will probably want to use MotioninJoy. This is a pretty handy program that works with BOTH MS xbox and PS3 controllers. I haven't muddled with it in anything other than Win 7 64bit, and it was quite some time ago but I'm pretty sure it allows you to remap some of the layouts and such.

Giver a go... Alot of people seem to be stuck on the keyboard mouse thing... be different stand out, make your self a pro then kick some tushy
