Dear ELP,

Do you have many members in the EU timezones or are you mostly US? In other words, would a potential EU recruit find himself all alone and without friendship?

Hugs,
Mike

You bring firepower you will get friendship.

Or is it you bring friendship you'll get firepower I can never remember.

Oh and yes there are some of those weird European people around and a South African somewhere, but we all try to forget about him.

Go to www.eridanipony.com have a look around and a bit of a chat and if you like what you see put in an application.

Yea we got guys from every continent except South America funnily enough. Quite a few of us in the EU time slot.

I'm also pretty stoked to see that so many other corps are scrumming with us! I can definitely say the times I've been there that we've learned as much from you guys as you have from us. It's always an honor to face off with talented and organized guys!

We take our MechWarrior as serious as we do our ponies because that is just the way WE roll. THIS pony corp is not full of hot air :(

Isn't he Peruvian? That would make him definitively South American.

Well I'm currently lounging on a boat at the Townsville yacht club marina which is about 17 degrees S, however my usual place of residence is 37-38 degrees S which I think is a just south of South Africa.
So I'm claiming possession of Antarctica.

So tell me fellow bronys in armor. As someone who is new to the beta of MWO and is considering for the first time in over 15 years of PC gaming to actually be excited to join up with a group/clan/corp etc... to play a game online as a team, what are you selling points for me to join up with the Royal Guard vs the Light Pony Corp?

I don't like to take my gaming to seriously as it just ruins the fun factor for me and im not one for having to stick with some kinda schedule as I have one to keep in the real world to pay the bills. I just wanna have fun with a like minded peeps who enjoy the world of MLP and encorporate it into MWO for giggles and muffins.

I'm also not entirely sold on using voicechat for communication, i've had poor experience with it, mostly xbox live over the years, but im willing to try if people are mature and don't shout/scream/don't play damn music or become overly serious

So, do tell. And no, don't start a hay fire against the Equestria guard, or I will considering that a "immature" outlook on your fellow bronys and be less likely to join you

As for what ERG offers, you'd have to ask them. Our points of contention are well noted, both here and on our own site, so there's no point in me repeating myself.

Our main points are as follows:

1) We are purely "for fun". What is fun depends on the person in question, eye of the beholder and all that. So, within reason, we let you do what you think is fun. Is playing the game once a week with some buddies fun for you? We can do that. Is playing competitively in the community warfare what you consider fun? We can definitely do that. We just put limits on certain things, such as being a teamkilling ***** or starting internal drama. Stuff that affects the fun of others is not cool. Unless your fun is winning and the enemy's fun is winning, in which case, affect it. Affect it hard.

2) We are a relaxed bunch of people. We toss a lot of jokes at each other (and I mean a LOT). We poke fun at ourselves and others. We're here to enjoy the experience, not create a second job. Which goes with the above of "for fun". I can't emphasize it enough, the attitude we take to the game is that it is a GAME. Doesn't mean we can't be the best at it and beat the ever loving snot out of people, but first and foremost it is a game. And we have a community of friends centered on it. It's not an exclusive group of people by all means -most of what is considered the "core" members were all applicants we didn't know when they joined, but they have assimilated just fine.

3) We are a mixed group of people. Most of us live in the USA. Most of us have previous Battletech experience range to Mechwarrior 2 and tabletop. Most of us (yes, not all) enjoy watching a show about colorful talking horses. But there are also plenty of people elsewhere. As seen above, we have people of multiple continents -quite a healthy Australian and British side, and plenty more elsewhere. Our ages range dynamically: most of us are 20+, we have a few younger ones (though they are mature, we kinda require that), and a couple of old farts (such as Zylo) who range 35+. Some don't have Battletech experience until this. Some weren't introduced to ponies until they met us. The point I'm trying to get across here is that we are a dynamic group, yet we are a SINGLE group. There's a niche for everybody, yet everybody can also fit in and be a part of the whole without feeling left out. We have over 100 members (which, in the past 24 hours over 90 of them logged on to our forums, so a large activity percentage as well), yet there is a feeling of unity as if we only had 20.

4) Our internal structure is unique in that everyone has a say in everything. From the moment an application is accepted, you can say what you want and it carries just as much weight as my words do. No worries about being the new guy that has to keep his mouth shut because older people are talking.

5) In regards to voicechat, I believe your experience is seriously marred because... well. Xbox Live is a horrible comparison to an organized group. And that goes for any game: public VoIP reduces to a bunch of people comparing genital sizes and talking about how they slept with the other's mom, and oh I question your sexual orientation because I just killed you and boy you must be stupid and -no. That's not what real voice chat is. Real voice chat is us being together, playing a game, and having fun. Whether we use it to call for help because darn it I'm almost dead I need a medic here, or to shoot the bull and have fun with killing each other, or what have you, you won't find that immaturity from public systems. During serious fights it is empty except for tactically important information. During casual games it's still got important info in it, but there's also just a lot of having fun. It's hard to explain to someone who seems to have no experience in the area.

6) Our application procedure. I mean, come on. If you want to see what kind of group we are, just look at some of the applications. It's insane. It's crazy. It's fun with a side of serious. It's us.

That's a quick and dirty overview. If there's specific points you want to go over, I'd be glad to do that with you regardless of the topic. Unfortunately a lot of things I'd like to say I can't due to NDAs, so it's hard to give you a real clear picture here. You're free to PM me with any questions you might want to bring up in a private setting. And of course, you're free to check out our website, register (even if you don't apply and just want to hang out, that's fine, we have a public section), or apply if you feel it's what you want to do.

I just had a really fun time playing with fellow bronys and a few ELPMC ingame and using teamspeak for the first time really ever in my 15+ years of gaming, I was really surprised how mature my fellow bronys were via teamspeak and ELPMC members that I played with. I recall being with Jade Kitsune, ForceUser and Deckclubace, so they can hopefully vouch for me if you guys allow me to join.

Meanwhile, gonna hang with the phillies...

It's a reference to the Eridani Light Horse, one of the larger mercenary commands in the BTech universe.

It's a pun on Eridani Light Horse...a rather famous outfit from the tabletop game.

Dang! Ninja'd by the Spork...

Ah, so you must be Spork, the one I was to be "informed" of in my application thread. A spork in of itself is a very hand eating tool in the right hands. Are you as of such nature as well?

Hmm, a link to help me further understand this merc command of my possibly future corp is named after?

Nevermind, just googled it. I am informed now. Good muffin twist on the name and logo!
