I was in a match last night where both sides sat (waiting) for the other to make the first move... Took over 3 minutes before the other side sent a Spider to see what we were doing...
What was really funny was almost every Mech on my team was rigged to snipe (myself included) and when the Spider popped it's head it got instantly cored by Gauss, EPPC and AC rounds... It was glorious.

Yeah...
...
... I know. I've had that experience in my Atlas. It is part and parcel of the unit I am with. Every time I stick my head up over the ridge the enemy assaults are waiting for us. When the PUG does it (first) he gets a mixed bag of Mechs. I know cause i follow him to provide back up!

The other day my group actually had enough on to run the 8v8s. Frozen City, we alternated popping over the ridge with peeking around the downed dropship. This happened with both teams over the course of 5 minutes until we managed to herd them where we wanted (not telling!!) and then had our brawlers take out 2-3 of the enemies that had been cut off from their fire support, then had the snipers roll over the ridge and focus their ranged 'Mechs.
I much prefer that type of match, where there is some tagging and feeling out the enemy's loadouts instead of just blindly charging over the ridge and the ranged 'Mechs trying to provide support after they catch up.

Not peeking over the ridge is a totally different thing to not attacking. This is precisely the problem - people seem to ignore the rest of the map and only play about on the ridge. Pushing on the jenner alley side is much better than pushing over the ridge

Agreed...
When I get out of the blocks first I try to lead the team to Jenner Ally because even from the lower city the rise is gentler. Cresting the ridge exposes a Mech for far too long before weapons can be brought to bare IMHO.
