While I would prefer to group my weapons in the mech lab then in the middle of a game, I REALLY do not like :) that I must muck about test firing like weapons to see which PPC is mounted on my left arm and which is mounted on my right. I Should be able to set weapon groups easily with out having to fire them to confirm there location.

PGI please put location codes on the Weapons Loadout screen.

eg.

MEDIUM LASER (RA)
MEDIUM LASER (LA)

PPC (LT)
PPC (RA)

And also list the hardpoint locations in mechlab. I'd like to know where they are when I'm about to buy a new mech.

Is it really necessary?
between torso and arm weapons is a gap.

i believe it it should be in this order:

left arm
right arm

head
left torso
right torso
center torso

How it is implemented is not as important to me as the ability to easily tell where each of my weapons are located when I am grouping them. I am open to any improvement in this direction as long as I get the results I desire.

there are a lot of simple things that get overlooked because designing a game is a bigger and more complicated process than most people can even imagine. that is why we have a suggestions forum.

Dose anyone know if it would be difficult to implement this change to the weapons loadout screen? or whether there is another solution being looked at by PGI.

This is about the mech you are piloting and not your opponent's mech. I do not want to wast time and ammo blasting dirt just so I can figure out which arm/torso each of my three PPC/Auto Canons are mounted on.

I get the feeling this will be addressed via UI 2.0 thru the mechlab, so this may be less relevant in the near future.

If that's the case that would be great. At that point the only use for location codes on the weapon loadout screen would be for remapping weapons mid game.
