Hey guys I'm new to this game I think I've been playing for about 3 days so far, liking it a lot. Was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help me figure out a good build for a light mech.

I'm thinking either a Raven or Jenner, not sure why some one would want the Commando or the Spider, could some one please link to a proven build on the MWO Mech Lab on smurfy-net.de? Or suggest how I could find proven Light Mech builds on that site?

I am hoping to have a Light Mech that can do a decent amount of damage, I notice a lot of people don't get jump jets for them, is that because it takes up too much weight? What weapons would be good for inflicting damage, the lasers because you don't need to carry ammo? Maybe a AC/20 or a Gauss Rifle?

Thanks in advance.

You may want to buy a Raven-3L to get one of the no-skill builds... 3 Medium Lasers / 2 SSRMs and ECM.

The problem with MWO atm is that every other light mech gets eaten by this one.

Possibly have a Mech Lab Smurfy link? What engine would I get, how would I distribute the armor, where I would put the weapons and such?

Thanks for the help BTW I'll see if I can figure this stuff out on my own too.

Sorry but I'm no light user, I just said what my clanmates say and what I see on the battlefield. Someone else will answer you better than this for sure.

I can hook you up.

This is the RVN-3L build that gives everyone fits. You can substitute out a MLAS for TAG if you are a team player or just like free money.

The 3L is the undisputed king of light mechs because of it's ability to mount ECM, 2xStreaks, while reaching the speed cap. It is just an unbelievably powerful little package in a 30 ton mech.

Take a look at its rivals. The Commando is smaller, no lasers, and not as fast. The Spider has no missiles and jump-jets are not yet meaningful to give up what it does to get them. The Jenner, the disposed former-king from pre-ECM times is still powerful, but the lack of ECM relegates to to an also-ran.

Yes, ECM and Streaks combined are just that powerful. While the curtailing of the lag shield as reined in the Craven from the absolute beast it was when noone could hit it, it is still a extremely potent light mech.

Another option you could consider is the Cicada-3M, which is a medium mech that plays like a burly light. If you don't care about ECM or have a negative predisposition to hopping on the bandwagon, the Jenner is better than ever due to jumpjet changes, but you WILL be killed by 3Ls.

The Death Knell is great if money is just pouring out of your pockets and wallets and you have no idea what to do with it.
