Seriously, what do you call a JagerMech with a PPC in the LT, an ERPPC in the RT, double Heat Sinks, quad Machineguns, and a Standard Engine with nearly full armor? Do you call it a "Glass Cannon?"

I call it MOAR DAKKA.

Seriously though, if they ever make machineguns not crappy, I'll do it.

If its engine restrictions/speed are the same as the Catapult, it should be able to get up above 81kph with a 300xl (with speed tweak) right? That right there makes it better than the 4X in my mind. Speed is life, even for heavies/mediums (and to a lesser degree, assaults).

Irrelevant!

Nah, seriously, though, the TT loadouts are only the reference material used to determine the Variants' Hardpoint distributions. That's it; if you see Paper-Thin Armor on paper that means absolutely nothing in a MechLab that allows you to change armor values... so it's folly to call JagerMechs "Glass Cannons."

Problem will be in trial mechs before mechlab. Paper thin STOCK armor does matter there.

And I would call that mech seriously gimped...not even worthy of 'glass cannon'...at least those pack a punch ;)

Mr 144

Compared to an ILYA with double UACs and double PPCs...why would anyone bother with that build? Quad Machine guns won't be buffed beyond a Double UAC...

The major advantage that the Jagermech will have over the Cataphract is its high arms. The arms seem like they'll fire above the cockpit, meaning you will be able to fire over ridges without having to expose yourself as much as if you were using a Cataphract. If you can see over the ridge, you can fire over it. It's for that reason alone that I think the Jagermech would make the best dual Gauss sniper build.

Basic idea for fast heavy offensive striker:
high-end XL engine
2xSRM6
2xAC20

Just that base is an alpha of 2x40 pinpoint + 2x15 splash = 70. I imagine to handle all that weight you need to have paper machie armor though.

Nope...Missle & ballsitic hardpoints will be both in arm (if even at all on the A) can't fit 'em

Not with a heavy ballistic loadout, you won't have much spare weight, so loading a 300xl is going to pretty much be a no go.

Trial Jagermechs will be the most hilarious thing ever. Thankfully you don't need to worry about your combination of 2xAC/2s and 2xAC/5's overheating you, because with 1 ton and 2 tons of ammo each respectively, you'll be empty before you hit the heatcap. But good luck with those 2 medium lasers.

Build Ideas:

JM6-S
2 Gauss Rifles. Advantage compared to the Catapult - higher gun position. Disadvantage is - arms need to be armoured, probably no insane torso twist range.
2 AC/20. Advantage compared to Catapult - no need for XL Engines. Disadvantage is - arms need armour ,no torso twist range, arms more exposed.
4 AC/5. Advantage compared to Cataphract - higher gun position. Disadvantage - less tonnage ot work with

JM6-A
2 Gauss Rifles or AC/10 and 2 SRMs Close and Long Range capabilities!
2 SRM6s, 2 Large Pulse Lasers

The JM6-A honestly sounds overall more interesting, because it allows combination that you probably can't find on other mechs.

On the "plus side" - it would overheat in 6 seconds anyway...

high firing position on the arms will be a definite bonus over the cataphract and pult for dual gauss... the ability to fit 4 UAC5's is going to be... interesting

whatever fitment you go for, tighter weight restriction vs potentially higher speed compare with a cataphract 4X are going to be the tradeoffs, I think you are going to end up having to play the Jager more like a medium mech - hit and run - than a heavy

I hope everyone who play 2xAC20 K2 will move to the jager. I don't like to see AC20s in that small side torso...

That's where I'm worried. You may be able to sport two AC20's and make up speed with an XL engine in a Jager, but your AC20's are in your arms (meaning less armor) and of course you run a risk with XL's. Even if you don't go with the XL, I doubt the Jager will have the same torso twist range as the K2. Plus if you go with a standard instead of an XL, your twist/turn speed will suffer. Unless they do some major tweaking in its turn radius and torso twist range and speed, I don't think players will give up the smaller profile the K2 has to offer.

HI there.
As much as I love the Jäger, I doubt it will have its place in serious premades battles.
Gonna try out that dual AC20 thing though.

before I get too crazy about them ( and i'm quite fond of the phract ballistics) i want to see how big a silhouette the "keg" has. Cant see those arms getting hit too often when in the firing position so it may (and i really hope it doesn't) just end up a phract that goes down easier due to it's side torso's being even more vulnerable. That or we'll see a lot of jagger's looking at the ground trying to shield torso's :)

Now if only they made the Ac2's and 5's fire like aa guns of battletech. As of now they wouldn't really be able to hit much if something were flying around. But I guess it would break the game more than the lore to have them fire something like the uac's in this pgi video.

Except it doesn't have the 4X's weakness of Assault mech speed with Heavy mech armor (not to mention the Cataphract chassis' barn door profile).

Instead, it will have the Jagermech's barn door profile.

A terrible mech. If you have a burning desire to run this awful loadout, you can already do it on a CPLT-K2.

That's really the problem with the Jager. Anything it can possibly do, it seems that a Catapult will already be able to do, only better. It seems like it's just another Awesome, overshadowed right out of the gate.
