There's been a lot of talk about introducing ELO to the game recently, but not too much in the way of specifics, so I thought it was about time somebody started a thread to get player feedback about which of their songs people would like to hear in the game's soundtrack.

While they've kind of reformed again, they don't seem like they're recording any new material so I'd suggest mainly sticking to the classics like 'Evil Woman' and 'Mr Blue Sky'. Personally they wouldn't have been my first choice of bands to use for the soundtrack, but if the Devs keep insisting that they're going to implement ELO.

In other news, are they ever going to put some sort of Elo Rating System into the matchmaking?

ELO was a great choice

They could do the chorus from turn to stone for when you power down....

Already have a song about betty...sweet talking woman.......(when in ecm bubble play the line WHERE DID YOU GO!?'

When you die they play 'its over'

River city night....well they have a song called 'NIGHT IN THE CITY' (FFS its so obvious!)

And those are just the ones that will fit the game perfectly from the out of the blue album
the devs picked the perfect group to represent mechwarrior musically.
so long as they dont allow any of that English sunset new crap in.

Given PGI is Canadian, I'm surprised they didn't go with BTO instead, or even DOA to fit the 80's MechWarrior feel.

Could ELO in-game be fed through Mech mounted speakers? Hearing Evil Women coming over a ridge line would be terrifying to the enemy.

As far as the elo rating system is concerned; If this was just going to be a vanity rating then no harm done. If the elo rating gave you some advantage in-game - Yuck. Power-gamers would stomp PuGs like there is 'no tomorrow'... Wait - what time is the rest of meteor whizzing past the planet?

A different ranking system, actually designed for more than 1v1 games like chess/checkers? Yes.

This thread isn't discussing the Elo system of ranking, it's mocking people for referring to Elo as ELO, which being capitalized is an acronym. Elo as a rating system is named after Arpad Elo who created it.

So E-L-O is generally a reference to 'Electric Light Orchestra', a band who's 15 minutes of fame was in the 70s, maybe early 80s.

Elo, pronounced EE-low, is a type of rating system. People seem to be using ELO in place of Elo regularly on the forums under the assumption that it's an acronym and not a name.

Hence this thread is grammar fetish humor. Pretty funny at that.

When the ELO system fails, I vote we replace it with a Jethro Tull system. Game needs more flute solos.

I don't ever recall ELO ever being in the poll from the devs as a choice for sound track. In fact I don't ever recall a poll.

And have you all forgotten "Don't bring me down" is coming to the forum sound track?

you really need to read that link the OP posted because it really sounds like you have absolutely no idea what Elo does
