I Like My New ERPPC/LRM/TAG Mixed Loadout... anyone else dropping those Medium Lasers for some Particle Cannons?

Now I might get a small reprieve from lock-busting Skirmishers... not if there's 2 of them, but at least it might be good for something, In the meantime I have gotten fairly okayish at dumbfiring LRMs at Assaults and Heavies (heheheheh), although their AMS still goes live even if you dumbfire. It's very satisfying to nail enemies repeatedly with LRMs even while their ECM Scouts are danging around you, and I don't think it triggers the Missile wwarning, either...

Yeah, PPC to scramble ECM, TAG for the lock, LRMs for the kill/real damage.

Good stuff.

You have 5 seconds from the moment you manage to nail a close range Light Mech with a PPC to regain sight on your intended target, TAG/target them, lock your missiles, fire your missiles, and then have those missiles hit their target (or else have them wiff due to target loss).

It's just not going to happen. The LRM travel time alone will throw a monkey wrench in that plan against anything but a stationary target.

You're probably better off just using the PPC against the thing you want to shoot LRMs at.

I run a Stalker 3F with the following:

2 ERPPCs
1 Large Laser
1 LRM15 (2 tons ammo)
3 SSRM2s (2 tons ammo)
300XL
Full armor

I like the versatility, decent speed (for a Stalker) and the torso twist (best for a Stalker). I do quite well with it, I call it my "PUGer special" because it allows me to do pretty well no matter what sort of PUG I drop in with.,
