Fix Pug Ecm Match Making

Its starting to get old. The group that has the most ECM's almost always is the group that wins when PUGGING. I'm fine with groups if its 1 ECM vs 2 ECM, but when its 0 ECM vs 2-3 ECM, the other team is at a distinct disadvantage.

It can't be that hard to work with the match making code to take into account ECM to make it where if a battle is coming up, there isn't a complete ECM gap.

Perhaps we should make it so the PUG players drop as a sole player with no opposition, and a base to easy cap?

Really. It is starting to get old to come here and see the litinany of complaints from players who want it all as a SINGLE-PLAYER game, and other's be damned if they "ruin it" by playinh in a manner opposite from their own style.

I completly agree, the most ECM pug or not seems to always win, ECM is massivly overpowered right now.

The matching ECM in MM as you suggested is one way to solve this, another would simply be adding a lobby so you can quickly discuss loadout before the drop with your pug teammates and one or two of you can then decide to drop with ECM mechs.

Really its the complete lack of PGI giving us ANY communication options that unbalance most pug matches.

Funny, I didn't see him say anything about wanting a single player game. You just seemed to pull those words out of thin air.

It sounds to me like he just wants a level playing field for this team based game. Pretty much what everyone wants.

Please explain to me how the game does not have a level playing field when everybody has access to every item available.

Seems pretty fair to me. How about the devs only give access to certain components to players with a high enough EXP. Then you can complain that the game doesn't have a level playing field.

The only way to do this is limit how many ECMs can be on the field at once to perhaps four, which would be the most that can be taken in a four man group. I wouldn't consider eight on eights to be pugs so those would it apply.

We're talking about ECM here. Not everyone has access to it.

PUG Complaints i have seen:
Missiles
Gauss
ECM
8 man Teams
4 man teams

Everything using teamwork (with exception of Gauss).

Maybe it isn't the systems are OP but PUGging is UP. :)

Yes, they do. Do you even play this game? The Commando-2D costs just about a whopping 1.7 million and the module only costs 400k. Playing an ECM commando is probably the single most accessible role a brand new player can perform in the game, for that matter, short of simple scouting.

The 2D is the commando with ECM.

The game is not a level playing field when it tosses people randomly together.

Have 2 ECM mechs vs 2 ECM mechs on either side? That is fair even if ECM sucks. Random match making throws 4 ECM mechs on one team and 0 on the other? Thats is stupidly unbalanced.

Might be balanced if there was a lobby and you could join games and then pick your mech with your team even if you are all randoms, but as it stands no it is not a level playing field.

you know that's WAY beyond PGI's ability....

It would take them months to implement and 2 more months to debug...

Interim solution, don't pug, get a group...

I complained when Artemis made 90 degree turns in flight.

I grumbled over what ECM did to combat, But also claimed I would work with it to find how to defeat it. Check my post history.

I complained because people want to ruin a perfectly good Gauss. I was happy to see the former 20 point explosion returned!

I was unhappy playing wit 4 PUGs cause it acted as ECM with half my team.

My opinion stands, as there are more PUGs than Teams, I lay the whine at your feet.

I will not speak for all of ML, but on average i think my opinion is on par with most members. And those who disagree don't QQ. So laugh all you like sir, but read my post history to see my stance.

Wow, I was thinking the same thing about you! What a coincidence. Especially after claiming that everyone has access to it, if they go buy the correct variant and mount it. Only conclusion I can come up with is that we should all buy mechs that use ECM. Rather than either balance teams with ECM, or balance ECM.
