Me and my buds would raid the one in Houston back in the 90's.

That was the first time hearing about MechWarrior and BattleTech. And was HOOKED. We traded our pods for man caves and all is well...
It has been a long wait Devs. Thank you.

They had a rendition of those down at Dave and Busters in Miami Florida's Dolphin Mall. It was pretty epic, but they charged too much for only a few minute session.

Dang that looks nifty! Reminds me of the old Tie Fighter simluator arcade game my local place used to have. Wish some of these were still publically available.

The pods still exist, and their successors as well

This is the largest Vendor of the Virtual World Mechwarrior Firestorm Pods

Nominally headquartered in Houston, Texas, they go all across the south bringing the joy of giant robots to many conventions, Like Texas Comicon in San Antonio, Mechacon in New Orleans, and Dragon-con in Atlanta. This coming weekend they'll be at Space City-Con in Houston, Texas. If you're nearby, come out and enjoy the immersive experience of piloting some of the most iconic Battlemechs.

I had the opportunity to run in both Walnut Creek, Ca & Seattle, Wa sites that had these, and enjoyed myself immensely, though I did not live close enough to go all that frequently.

Yes, I remember VirtualWorld, been there, done that. I started playing these games with paper and dice. I went to the one in Pasadena, in the late 80's, IT WAS FREAKIN' AWESOME! Very expensive, We went on the tour, saw the battle briefing vid, orientation, then climbed in and "Had at it!" My friends and I had a particular advantage over others, understanding the weapons ranges, grouping and heat features, dumping your coolant saves you from an overheat, auto-shut down. We did an in-house 8 person free for all, then 4 vs. 4, but the 8 vs. 8 at another location crashed. sorry no refunds. Afterwards we viewed the above perspective battle vid, and recieved a paper print-out after actions report of the whole Battle. There was a six-hour wait to run through again, but apparently we crashed it good. They couldn't get it up and running after the carnage reaked by "Lothar the Destroyer" and "P5YCHOKILLER" .....aaaah, good times.

Got my butt handed to me the one time I got to play in Chicago sometime around 1990. It was super fun and I still have the scorecard.

i don't remeber those, but i got to play in their successor a few months ago at a convention in northern Ohio. 5 bucks for a round though! (still blew a ton of cash on it!!) They would be beautiful for MWO, simply beautiful.

Ah yes, pods... we did Dave and Buster's in the Palisades mall in NJ. It was a bit of a hike from the Hudson Valley, but well worth it. A complete blast!

FASA is gone, but those days aren't over.
The Tabletop is still around and actively played. Catalyst even has volunteers who set up and run games around the world.

Walnut Creek, baby!!!!

I had played many years before these, but wow, was I floored when I tried them. Wish there was still VirtuaWorlds around. Kinda surprised they ever had the capitol to do them in the first place, truth to tell.

*daydreams of happy times...*
