I haven't read anywhere that the Periphery States will be included. I think it would be an interesting addition to the game and make a much more hectic experience. Tech wise you could also do the opposite of the clans. In the lore the Periphery was generally at a lower tech level and received upgrades at a slower rate. I think this would be cool to model in the game. You could do this by limiting them to 3025 designs and allowing them access to future designs at a much later date. Thoughts?

Interesting and I could see it happening further down the road. They have to start somewhere but there is a lot they can add. My question is if you would be willing to pay real money to 'unlock' the periphery states to play?

Expect me to lead a group of Butte Bandits regardless.

Plenty of Merc units are also limited to introductory-tech units by the time the clans invade.
And to be honest, the periphery "states" that the Clans smashed through were a pityful bunch to begin with (almost all of them bandit kingdoms).

Which still leaves most of the Periphery States, and the largest ones intact.

Mostly because the ones that matter are far away from the invasion corridor.
Elysium Fields, Greater Valkyrate, Barony of Strang, etc. bandit kingdoms, aren't as lucky.

If anything, I would assume that there will be things to do in the periphery states, but no joining them.

With the Canopians I'd only frequent the circus.

I'll put in a vote for the Rim Collection and the Marians.

The Periphery States probably won't be available for play at launch, but it's always an option that they could be added in at a later date. In the meantime, we can always start up mercenary companies themed on our periphery realm of choice. For example, I could potentially start up a Taurian-themed merc group named the Hyades Irregulars.
