Actually, the best way to play an A1 is to sell it, buy a C4, and load it with a couple of zombie lasers as well as the 15/6 missile configuration in each arm. Because realistically Streaks are junk at the moment against the one thing they're built to fight and a couple of CT-mounted lasers under a standard engine are a lot more useful than a fifth and sixth missile launcher in your oversized, easily-destroyed boxcar arms.

I have yet to see a mixed-missile configuration on the A1 that the C4 couldn't do better. That said, you do still get props for not Splattering. And if ECM ever stops locking out Streaks completely, the A1 may yet have a purpose again, mostly this one.

let me tell you something. when this thing is in the 180-275 meter sweet spot it has one hell of an alpha. too many people underestimate what artemis does for srms

Heh, I don't doubt it a bit. The only thing I doubt is the current utility of Streak SRM launchers. ECM hammers them too hard, and half to three quarters of the things you're taking Streaks to hunt/counter are sporting ECM. Besides, a medium laser has the same alpha damage output as an SRM-2, Streak or otherwise :) Therefore, you don't actually lose any alpha damage with the C4 using lasers over Streak SRMs, and it frees up a ton for an extra heat sink to help with those lasers' heat issues, or a COMPLETELY AWESOME SINGLE JUMP JET.

You're still something I'd much rather have on my team over the typical Splattercats. I just don't see nearly enough C4s out there, and feel that the variant doesn't get nearly enough credit between the much more popular and ubiquitous A1 and K2 variants and their associated, highly publicized cheesewheel builds.

The Cplt-C4 is my favorite for the chassis, although my build might be considered "cheese"

4 Artemis srm6 (2 on each arm)

A Large laser on the torso for zombie-ing and annoying people from range, making them think im a lasercat or something.
They close in, bam.

The expression on that commando pilot, when he received 24 Artemis enhanced srms on the face, thinking i was a lasercat. priceless.

When I've run 6 srm6s+Artemis IV alpha striking almost none of the rockets were registering when on my screen they all exploded on an enemy mech. When I started shoot 3-3 things got better but still was unreliable.

People are saying something is off with srm6 launcher, like Artemis doesn't actually work on it or it have some other issues.

When I run centurion once up close to 6 srm6 A1, he hit me with alpha strike, I was shaking like it was hell but my armor was barely damaged when it had to be annihilated by 90 alpha.

The Cplt-C4 is my goto Cplt as well.

DHS
Endo
XL315
2 LRM15 +Artemis 4 tons ammo
2 SSRM2 1 ton ammo
2 Medium pulse lasers.

If I'm feeling jumpy, it's easy enough to swap out the 2 mpl's and add 2 ml's and 2 jj's. The mpl's are nice for keeping the pesky lights that like to harass the back line in check. I'll also occasionally swap out a heat sink for an extra ton of lrm ammo. With the HS..you will just about never overheat.

The other enjoyable thing about this configuration is I only have to worry about 2 weapon groups. My lrm's on one mouse button and the streaks and MPL's on the other. It's my sit back and relax build.

I had LRM 15s, but switched them out to add back my JJs (too fun to leave off!). I thought about doing a build like yours, but I just don't like SSRMs personally. They are only highly damaging to lights most of which are carrying ECM these days. The whole point ot short-range firepower on the A-1 is really to defend oneself from ECM carrying, LRM-neutering lights (and others who engage it up close). This build allows me to hang back and provide LRM support, and then help cleanup once the match is nearing the end, or suprise any mech that thinks I'm an LRM boat =D.

No doubt about it...ecm does not play well with this build. I've had matches (I pug only) where I am reduced to a few bad shots with the LRM's and spamming my MPL's. When this occurs, the other team already has ECM dominance and were disciplined enough stay in the umbrella. 90% of the time, that team will win anyway. Its worth the tradeoff when I have an atlas or stalker sitting in the sweet spot between 180-270, unable to close the distance or busy with my teammates while I unleash on him. That situation occurs at least as often for me anyway.
In addition, even without the streaks, I can still put up a decent defense against a lone ecm light using just the mpl's. The biggest problem I have with this build is usually not being able to do squat against a medium that sneaks in behind the line and catches me alone. 1v1 they will rip me up as they outrun and outgun me. Apologies to the OP for going off topic on the C4.

Load up six lrm5s. Fires fast and lots even on caustic. I had some one laugh in all chat "lrm5 ha! hit me if you can." 30 lrms later "I gues yur lrm5s dun got me." Hardest thing to worry about is where your team is and how far away are they once that ecm light shows up. Sure you can shoot me light, Just keep following me to my assult and heavy buddies.

boating is tends to have too many weakness unless you are boating large lasers which are effective at all ranges my build up there is effective at any range and it has been making my K/D skyrocket
