Hardcore mode. A mode that you lose destroyed items and mechs permanently. I have seen this topic talked about before by other players and think its a great idea. This would also be great for pgi to have an optional (c-bill sink). Players who want that thrill of maybe losing their mech forever or killing someone elses mech could get what they want at no cost to player that did not want this. Great end game mode!

Well, only if it had a decent salvage system along with a mechlab that conforms to the StratOps refit kits.

I know a lot of people think this mode must be about rewards but I can tell you from pesonal experiance HC mode has nothing to do with reward just the trill of playing. I played HC in Diablo 2 and D3 any diablo rip off also. The reward where no greater then normal mode but i just loved the trill.

Pretty much this.

Optional for the win, like, really really optional, but for certain kinds of players, they'd relish in it.

Why not just bring R&R back?

And make the repair costs higher?

How bout just have a button that lets you instantly destroy all your cbills. Thats basically what hardcore mode would be unless it had some kind of serious payout to make it worthwhile. I'd rather see them focus their effort on at least one game mode thats actually fun... because baserush and deathmatch are boring.

all this would serve to do is reduce people to trial mechs all the time

overall averages, i die once about every 10 drops. if you only dropped premades, you could probably get that down to a death every 20 drops or so. say, between premium and whatnot you're making 200k/match (i doubt anyone would take a hero mech if they lose it forever). so 20 matches you earn about 4mil. which means optimistically every 4mil you earn you're looking at buying a brand new mech, re-upgrading it for dhs/endo, etc.

probably the cheapest effective mech to run is the 4sp hunchy (light mechs, once you add in the engine and upgrades often cost ~10m), but even the 4sp hbk is gonna run you more than 4m if you want to use dhs, endo, and a faster-than-stock engine

I think a better money sink would be giving players the ability to donate cbills to their merc corp and being able to spend those cbills on upgrades for your merc corp (like a merc corp skill tree).

Considering the whiners in this community crying when we had repair and reload as part of the economy (which I liked).

Ain't gonna happen. I'd like this, but they won't do it, too many crybabies ruin it for people that like a challenge.

I had this same idea before. We can't realy risk everything in this game. But, it is very possible for the devs to allow us to risk our Mechs and what they have equiped.

Few things'd need to happen to make it at all viable.

First, mission rewards would need to be huge, say 5 million c-bills for a typical drop, 10+ million for a high-priority one.

Second, Salvage would need to be in kind rather than hugely prorated cash.

Third, ammo dumping, ejecting, etc. would all need to be added so players would have a way to mitigate damage when things go sideways.

Fourth, in-mission voice comms would need to be universal, or else you'd need to limit it to full premade teams only.

Fifth, it'd be best if you had a Hardcore career track and a Normal career track and they were separate.

And if you do less than 100 damage in a match your account is deleted.
