I hear the mech for this month is the Trebuchet which sounds and looks fairly cool but will it be a good stock mech? as it will no doubt go in rotation as a trial.
I made a mock-up version of the Trebuchet (TBT-5N) using a 4SP here ...

As you can see with it's standard 240 armor (max 338) as stated on the MWO wiki and useless cooling eff as shown in the Mechlab it seems fairly bad and liable to die from a couple of sniper shots or a light mech which leads me to believe it will be far from a user friendly trial mech but what do you think? Will it work?
I'd also would be curious as to how you will customise yours ... Here is my 5N -

I'm a huge Trebuchet fan and I plan on investing heavily in it. The stock model is a cut down Catapult, which means it's an economy missile support mech. LRMs are unpopular now, so I can see how that is a role that won't excite too many people. But the chassis still has loads of potential.
In MWO what the Trebuchet looks like to me is a great Striker platform. A Striker mech is one designed to use good speed to get a good position to attack from. In other words, you want a Trebuchet to be working around to the flanks and rear of the enemy position to mess stuff up. Its thin armor means you do NOT want to be someplace where the enemy can focus fire you, so successful Trebuchet pilots will have to be smart about when, where, and how they engage.
I plan on outfitting my Trebuchets with mid to long range weapons so that I can minimize the risk I'm in. Close ranged weapons tend to dictate a "do or die" approach to battle, and with thin armor that's a poor choice. I haven't done much more than simply think about possible loadouts at this point, so I have nothing specific to share. If the 7K variant is in the game it will make a great high mobility sniper platform.

It is a smaller AWS-8R/T/V on crack because it will have the Dragon's speed stock and 1-2 versions with JJ.

I run a 90kph (speed tweak) Hunch 4J with 2 ALRM15s, TAG and 3 medlas.
I play like a skirmisher, TAG your own targets, use your speed, pick your fights etc, and do really well, so I think the Trebuchet will be fine. If people don't play it foolishly, at least.
EDIT: Mind you, DHS, Endo etc allow you to have the ammo and heat to make it work.
Also the modules of target decay and adv. sensors are great.

I go and play pug by myself so I end up having to swat ECM at close range under the LRM minimums so i instead carry 1 LRM(something) and a SRM6 to mix things up. ..absolutely hilariously fun. also when alpine comes out..your setup is infinitely better then me getting ambushed because i haveno good place to run in the current maps and is forced to have to bring my own punch( which I spike my self ) to the game...solo pugging

Yeah I can see the logic... I just trust on the medlas, and use speed to run through my own team shouting 'ECM 3L in *X#'.
Either that or I get my *** kicked, but yeah =]
