Having a Hunchback with a mix of Ballistic, Energy, and Missile hardpoints would make for a more centurion-y feel with the Hunchback chassis. I feel like it'd be a decent addition to the game, overall.

Hardpoints could be 1x energy in each arm and head, 2x energy RT, 2x missile and 1x ballistic in the RT.

Discuss?

They won't introduce a variant that has less than it's canon stock loadout.

Five energy hardpoints, two missile, one ballistic.

It makes the 4SP and the 4H completely obsolete, not to mention the Centurion AL. The 4N simply has too many hardpoints in comparison. If they had originally only introduced 3 HBKs then the 4N would've been a good one to include instead of the 4SP and 4H, but it's too late for that.

I'd be game -- sounds like a nice, balanced mech.

The whole "this mech has more hardpoints, so its cousin mech isn't viable" is a shallow argument.

There are like 20 possible variants that haven't gone into the game yet, I would like to see more of them.

Everyone who likes Hunchbacks wants one. It would effectively kill the Centurion chassis though. Mainly the CN9-A and CN9-D. The CN9-AL would "survive" but not much when you compare it to the HBK-4SP.

I believe I've asked this 4-5 times in various Ask the Dev posts. In the last one they said that they will implement canon timeline variants as time goes (in response to questions about the Centurion CN9-AH) so we might see the HBK-4N down the line.

why drive a poor man's Centurion, with everything stored in that bullet-magnet of a hump, when I can just drive a REAL Centurion, which is a better, more versatile mech, anyhow?

While I would probably not pilot it because of its classic hunchback vulnerabilities, I would really want to see it in game or especially in some concept art because I have a feeling it's hunch would look really cool with all those weapons

Yeah - there is room for a Hunchie-Hero but it would likely be a 4G (Shakir/Hohiro)

Probably because blowing out a Hunchback's side-torso is a little bit harder than destroying a Centurion's giant ***** arm, because a Hunchback is a smaller target, because the Hunchback can generally carry more and better weapons, and because the Centurion is a crapbox.

I think this can stand beside the Centurion without one obsoleting the other.

Different quirks, and the placement of hardpoints will still make them very different animals.

Everything in the arms and right torso? While it's a good variant, it's not one I would use as my 1st choice... mainly because it's vulnerable to all that can aim and I, personally, dislike balistics. 4SP may still be superior.

Funny. I kill Hunchies by the scads, because shooting center mass is far easier then trying to target a limb (hence the reason every military and police force in the world teaches it), which lends itself to stripping that impossible to miss hunch.

Good Centy pilots only present you the "useless" left arm (hint: Shield, so not so useless after all) and nail you with their BFG at will.

Not to mention at least 2 Centy variants are loads faster than ANY HBK on the planet. And they handle better, yadda, yadda, yadda. I think 100+ kph, with a Gauss, 2 medium pulse lasers and a torso full of the missiles of your choice pretty well beats any Hunchback in the game. (and this from a guy who likes the Hunchback a lot).

Don't mistake poor piloting with poor mechs. Trewstorybro

I'm not sure if that is the case, but the 4N seems to be based of the 4H / 4J, so that would seem an accurate assumption.
