Teamspeak 3 can easily be integrated into MWO - built in VIOP payed.

Yes, were. But they have left it kind of half-way integrated, or rather not optimally integrated. Vivox is also junk compared to other VOIP programs.

I agree on all points.... :)

Here is one possible solution. MWO is a FREE to play game. You want a server for your Group/Clan/Guild? Pay for it in the MWo Store. After a couple of minutes the person who setup the server gets a setup email and posts that to the guilds info section in the game. Now the group hits a button that they can assign on the plug in to activate the push to talk feature. Until you pay for it the built in VOIP is disabled.

Teamspeak does offer a SDK for game developers. Several large game developers already use it.

Not only is it completely transparent to the user in game, but if you run your own TS3 client there are mods that will automatically configure your client to further integrate into the game.

That's pretty cool.

Ingame VOIP would be a BIG improvement for PUG players.

I wonder if they picked C3 for (possible/future, full?) voice integration just because of it's name being like the C3 Network in Battletech.

My bet is on it's ability to be monetized.

If they want this to be a team game, there needs to be a way to communicate with your team. Typing doesn't work, since your mech slams to a halt as soon as you open a chat window (or map, so you know, it's great for both situational awareness as well as communication :D).

I think you need a better solution than just 3rd party apps. I mean, fixing in game text chat would be a good start, but voice would be better.

That's not true...it keeps going in the direction it was already moving in.

It certainly does not, my throttle not only stops working when I'm typing in chat, it acts like it got pushed to neutral first. Maybe this is part of the broken joystick support, but you can't turn/pitch/twist or move forward/back while chatting. Makes scouting a little impossible if typing makes you stand perfectly still.

Shouldn't I be able to fully control the mech while typing out a long message a few characters or words at a time as I pick my way through the map? I'm a pretty quick typist, but even a short message takes ~3 seconds to type, by which time the mech has ground to a halt.

I just figure in-game voice chat would be even better, since you wouldn't have to take your hands off the controls to reach for the keyboard, you could just bind one of your HOTAS keys to speak. As it is, I have zero practical ways of communicating with my team.

Yeah, that would be a joystick issue. Using keyboard and mouse, I just keep going straight until I run into something.
