General Pace’s Sniper School for Wangs

Welcome to Wang Sniper School. So you have a shiny new Wang and don’t know the best way to utilize it? Sounds like a personal problem to me but let’s proceed. The Wang has subpar hard points which are the balance for the 30% C-Bill boost. Most Yen Lo Wang builds you encounter on the battlefield are pure zombies which honestly are boring. ANY Wang can go zombie but this build goes zombie from as far away as possible. Sniper zombies? Let me introduce you to one.

The Sniper Wang utilizes an ER Large Laser to deliver discriminatory, highly accurate fire against enemy targets that cannot be engaged successfully by brawlers because of range or visibility. The Ultra AC/5 compliments the ER Large Laser ONLY to provide some burst damage. It is NOT – I repeat NOT your main weapon. The Sniper Wang does not care if the Ultra AC/5 jams because it is supplemental damage.

The Sniper Wang utilizes a standard 225 engine that tops out at 78.4 KPH with speed tweak. This is a respectable speed which can get you around the battlefield and into sniping position. You can also fit perfectly a 280 XL for top speeds over 90KPH. That said understand your zombie defense will not work as well with all those engine critical locations. As the old adage goes, chrome won’t get you home.

The Sniper Wang uses an Endo Steel Internal Structure for additional weight allotment. With 11 DHS the Sniper Wang only has minor heat concerns in places like Caustic Valley. Pick your shots, don’t spam and don’t overheat. When you are shut down you contribute no damage.

The Sniper Wang compliments its 304 points of armor with an Anti-Missile System. Since you will be the target of LRM boats make sure you have one. It is a small investment for great additional damage mitigation from LRM barrages.

Wang Sniper School Tips:
  • Support the heavy/assault mechs on your team.
  • DO NOT try to snipe from an open area.
  • DO NOT play hide and seek with LRM boats.
  • Find common sniping spots and don't use them, but always check for novices using them.
  • Cover your back with obstacles and terrain if possible.
  • Go slowly around corners and obstacles – full throttle all the time is bad.
  • Aim just a little before your enemy when they are moving.
  • Sniper shots to the back of an enemy should be practiced.
  • Sniper shots to the head of an enemy are your ultimate goal.
  • Sniping = less repair bills and more profit.
Remember the shooting part is easy. Having patience is the hard part.

This was a mediocre and terribly inaccurate guide when it was posted, and it has only gotten worse with age.
