norymes and myself(Tybo) with our 5D Spiders(ECM FTW!) mopping up on River CIty.

Build Spider 5D:

1 ERPPC
2 SML
XL 210
10DHS
6JJ
ENDO
176 armor

I LOVE this mech.

Find a spot or shoot and scoot, either way you stay healthy out the fight wreaking havoc and confusing the enemy/drawing fire. Towards the end(just like the vid) you can hop down off your perch/flanking position and engage more directly with the ERPPC+2 smalls and finish off any remaining mechs.

Typical results are 250-350 dmg, 1-3 kills.

I didn't record it, but I had a game on River city where it was down to a full health atlas(lrm build whew, so it had 2 med lasers) and myself and I ended up winning using close in circling, as well as long range jumping/poking around buildings etc outside of it's medium laser range. Took me about 30 landed shots, but it worked. :}

I'll be working on a montage of various shots and kills, so keep eye out for that soon.

Looks awesome. It seems to really require teamwork though - I imagine this mech with a similar or other agile light or medium (like your video) will work much, much better than in a random PUG with strangers.

But really awesome. Love it, really do. Gonna try this out right now actually, though I don't have elite yet so we'll see how it goes without that.

EDIT: 2 questions:
No ferro fibrous, am I correct?
And: How much does the XL210 engine improve compared to a XL200? The extra ton feels like it could go to something more useful, and I feel hesitant to buy such a specific and odd engine as 210, but is there a special reason for those 5 kph?

I can attest to the effectiveness of this build. I was in the process of writing a guide for a similar spider-5d build, minus the jump jets and small laser, but with TAG, Guardian ECM, and XL 235 engine and plenty of double heatsinks to keep the er ppc going.

I wouldn't mind seeing that... though I would think that if you aren't going to use the Jump Jets, you are better off going with a Raven 3L.

You can fit an ERPPC, TAG, ECM and 2 SSRM2s and still have higher armor and run at 130kph. Here.

I recently made a topic about this build, but no one has commented on it yet.

No Ferro. I do have Endo though.

The XL 210 was just something i had lying around. You don't need much speed in this thing though, but maybe fooling around and seeing what max engine size while still retaining ERPPC etc would be interesting.

But you would probably lose Heatsinks and armor to do that.

Isn't the tag also 1 ton? And its max range is pretty short compared to the ERPPC...his build sounds more like a hybrid/shorter range support mech than mine, but thats not a bad idea to try the TAG. Just take off the laser on the arm I guess? That TAG will also give you away more than the ERPPC.

Yes. The tag is one ton and has a range of 750m. Iirc the ER PPC's damage falls off after 810 meters. Just a thought though. I'll have to try out the double small laser build. Even a small boost in close range damage for a light can be a life saver.

Edit: Also saw your video on the spider, looks pretty beastly. Maybe I'll have to consider your and Ravennus' suggestion on those jump jets. I pulled them because I didn't feel I needed to use them so much for placement, but the mobility just looks too good. I run 12 DHS, but it looks like 10 and 4 to 6 jumpjets would be plenty.

You get a bunch of money/xp by tagging right? I thought range was like 450 or something, so thats good, 750 is totally doable from many of my perches. ANd really, I should get closer for both aiming and highest DPS, I just tend to run into those lights that will own your face if you get too close.

The Citadel on River City is basically my summer home at this point lol.

A variation I tried to pull, a bit low on jump-jets, though.

I reaaaaaalllly want to try and get a 255 engine in this thing to get the extra 'true' double heat sink. The 210 + 2 externals gives you 1.88 heat dissipation per second.

A 225 + 1 sink gives 1.94

A 255 (same tonnage as a 250) gives a full 2.0 heat per second dissipation.

Running an XL 255 in this Variant, together with 5 JJ's and the ER PPC. have the left arm totally naked (dont see why I should put armor onto an empty tin) and the legs somewhat touched so I can get 0,4 tons for that 5th JJ. Else you can max Armor and go for 4 JJs, works nice too! Best score till yet: 766 Damage in a conquest game, in Caustic Valley (no ****). I shot around ~100 times in that match (11 mins long) and didnt overheat once. I was cored in plenty of spots, bud didnt even lose a limb. YOu ac as an auto-taunt (at least in my case :-S) pretty mouch on anyone that oyu PPC 1-2 times, so use this to lead them into your team for maximum bitchslappery. TAG is my problem: I was thinking maybe drop down to 2 JJs (do the job just fine everywhere except in river city... doh!) to smack one in while dropping with LRM boats :D
