Like many here I was very happy to receive a gift of 24 hours of premium time. I consider it very generous of PGI to do such things, and it shows a good respect to the player base foregoing money spent on MC. I'd like to say thanks for the good intentions!

Unfortunately, this community just can't have nice things. The only chance I had to get some pilot time this weekend was Sunday. Fortunately as it turned out, since the free premium time seems to have brought out the worst elements in the community. Troll builds, clock watchers, sync/pugstompers, lolstreak packs, teamkillers, whathaveyouFOTM.

And for the love of Krensky (Natasha, TYVM) please put an easy way to report people in game for being complete [redacted]. I don't hold out much hope for that given people are still posting here on the forums admitting to breaking the TOS with no fear of recourse.

Experiences may vary differently from user to user. I had absolutely no problems of that sort this weekend.

I just can't wait until I actually activate my premium time. At this rate, with Penny Arcade + VDay, I'll have a few weeks built up in the account before I press the button when CW is stable and live.

Matchmaking phase 3 should help out your experience greatly.. We all hope so anyways.

As for people being rude? Meh.. Welcome to the Internet. Screenshot and send to support@mwomercs.com is really the only way to report people.

You should drop with your guild more Thontor. - _ -

I generally have a pretty thick skin for the shenanigans, but this weekend was just the worst yet.

Legged at match start? Yup.
Teamkilled by [redacted]? Yup.
"Friendly" fire by [redacted]? Every 3rd game.
Cheese? So much I'm surprised more people have heart problems.
Heavy or assault running over my light and grinding away at my plentiful armor? 2 games out of 3.
Teens working through the anger of puberty? In spades.

Honestly it is getting very tiring that PGI is taking such glacial steps in addressing any of these issues.

Given that one does not need Premium Time to play, should this kind of behavior not be universal and independent from the gift? I too did not see something out of the ordinary this weekend. I suppose OP may just have had ... bad luck. This community has grown quite a bit over the past few months, so there have always been a number of bad (attitude, not skill) players around.

For what it's worth, I thought the free day was a classy move which was good PR (how many games/studios still do this kind of stuff?) for little actual cost. Essentially semi-free PR. I for one told my friends, and as I think that many others have done likewise I would not be surprised if the game has seen a few new accounts since this promotion started.

I had no problem and i only Pug yes many games was lost and many many many cheese builds was running all over but it did not ruin the weekend for me any way.

The Elo MM should help alot and make other 1day perm time events better due.

Had a blast with a few fellow Templars this past weekend.. Dropping a lance of Centurions is quite fun.

Not to be overly rude since you do have some good advice in case new people stumble on this thread, but welcome to part of the problem.

I played all weekend and it didn't seem that much different from anyother time. Also how does free premium time relate to teamkillers???

I got my friend to start playing last weekend he loves the game, this weekend he's getting pretty good.. able to really squeeze the damage out and manuver properly. The free day of premium time they sampled may almost be enough to get him to go spend that first 50 - 100 $$. Why? 'Cos it's good.. to be able to deal top damage and walk away with 200,000+ C-Bills and 1000+ XP and look cool while you're at it!

At OP i noticed nothing out of the ordinary other than more YLWs being fielded, which is a good sign saying sales on hero mechs work.

OP is suggesting that giving away makes all the players come back and then TKing and all the listed above happens more which brings the game down. It's certainly true, but re-injecting the community is the point of these discounts and the listed above tends to happen, or not happen, anyway with or without the help of said discount re-injection.

Sigh, another troll starter post hoping for lots of responses. Everyone likes free time with the exception of this one sad person.

As for big mechs running over you... I can't really put the blame on them for that... If you are right up on them they can't see you, and they are slow to maneuver... Its on the light pilot to use his speed and maneuverability to avoid those situations.

I watched a cataphract head towards me while typing in team chat about the ***** that just stepped on me right at the start of the match while I was fiddling with my weapons groups. I have several mechs - even the slow as molasses 4X, so I understand it happens in a furball. Walked a good 5 seconds in a straight line right over me without even bothering to turn. I've learned if I don't beat feet right at the start it is a good 25% chance to get stepped on or shot.

We should encourage MORE premietime giveaways. I'm impressed that they either got a new promo guy or beat sense into the old one. I'd say new guy because pounding all that sense into the last guy probably killed him.

Sounds more like you hit a streak of fools, OP. I wouldn't necessarily tie that into the time offer.

I saw it once. An unnamed pilot in a Centurion shot myself in my light, my friend in his light, and an Awesome on our team. It was far enough apart it was not accidental. It wasn't light fire either, it was more or less an alphas as my whole backside and an arm turned yellow to orange. After that I cut throttle and dropped behind him ready to cut off his arms and leave him a little less weaponry to mess up his teammates. Since I was all lasers, my friend had a mostly lasers and not all streaks, I think he realized that between the two lights and the Awesome now looking back at him he might not last long. He continued on to the enemy where it almost looked like he ran into the thick of them in a suicidal glory charge.

Another team reported that the Spider on their side had been shooting team members from the start of the match and all the way through. He was then hiding once he was the last mech so we took the points and hunted him down. He ran for out of bounds rather than have us kill him and just barely made it before 80+ LRMs hit him.

Nope, didn't see any rude behavior or overabundance of cheese builds. Just a regular weekend.
