When a player averages 7 to 8 kills in a match with under 800 damage/match, he is either the luckiest shot alive, the best mechwarrior in the universe or using a targeting bot.

But I don't blame said mechwarrior for using this exploit. I blame the programmers for allowing such potential for exploits to exist client-side in the first place.

To that, Piranha, you SERIOUSLY need to rework your programming so that ANY code relating to in-game mechanics is stores server-side, not client side.

Exploits changing the color of your Thermal or Night-vision screen is one thing, but one that allows you to auto target your enemies, thus negating the need for skill is more than just "cheeting" it's bad programming on your side, Piranha.

For the most part, I love this game, but to know that any time I go up against someone with a targeting bot, I will lose (unless I also use a targeting bot, which I refuse to do), takes the fun and challenge out of the game. Especially when such an exploit is all but impossible fro Piranha to detect save by watching multiple games played by a suspected bot-user.

This is s MAJOR PROGRAMMING FLAW and needs to be addressed immediately.

i have not seen anything resembling a target bot in game.

are you getting these numbers from the stats? 7 or 8 kd could very easily be a player who gets 2-3 kills per match but is careful and survives most matches. i personally have survived a few 5 kill matches. a player who only plays with an organized team likely stomps pugs consistantly with very little risk to themselves.

i have seen plenty of games that have these problems *cough*Battlefield3*cough*. with the way components move and how targetting ranges work i don't think aim bots would help very much.

I've managed to steal planty of kills with a light.

And you can't just say "DEVS FIX IT, IT IS FLAW!!", I'm sure they are aware and take cheat reports seriously.

But there is no magic "FIX EXPLOIT" button. Tons of games that are FAR bigger experience some of the worst hacking imaginable... (Battlefield 3 and BLOPS 2). They still havn't been able to get of them.

If you encounter a cheater make sure to get the name and what happened. Recording it is the best thing to do though.

Actually, I wasn't even aware that such a thing as a targeting bot existed until it was pointed out to me that said attacker was head-shotting nearly every time even at extreme range even against mechs moving erratically. And I'm talking 7 kills +1 assist or 8 kills per match, every time with an average damage of under 800, even against veteran players.

I myself am not that good a player (not to mention I use a joystick as opposed to a mouse, so I'm even less accurate). I don't mind not being a good player. I do mind when someone uses an exploit to take any sense of competition away from the game.

I do. If someone's using an aimbot, and gets caught, its a ban, no refund. Feel free to put in an "unban me" request in the forums to see if you can get reinstated. And then, when the video that was used of you faceshotting 16 mechs at 800m in 2 matches gets posted along with your 'denied' notice? Don't cry about it.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be punished, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
It would be near impossible to find and ban all the cheaters. Much easier to close the exploits as we--and by "we" I mean Piranha/IGP, though we players have a duty to help them any way we can--find them.

That is some very weak evidence!

I have had 6 kills with less then 300 points of damage. Carefull aiming and a little bit of luck can do that.

I also had a "lucky eight" with just above 800 damage. That match I killed two Catapults by headshots, three Hunchbacks by blowing out their right torso (must have had XLs build in) and the rest by spraying damage all over them.

Remember, that this is a team game, and the damage the other participants (including friendly fire) dealt to those mechs counts as well.

If you come across someone you suspect of using an aimbot or other cheat or hack, report that player to support@mwomercs.com, with any evidence you might have.
