In one of the past games. I cannot remember which one, probably 2. Instead of having a damage display on the hud there was a type of vision mode that allowed you to see the damage indicators on the actual mech. This was really cool. I can imagine that it would be hard to implement depending on how graphics was handled, and im sure not many people would request this option. But for me, it makes me feel more professional when im going in and out of the mode to determine where i should hit the enemy. It was just coloured lines that outlined the mech.

I found out what it was called. It was called enhanced imaging in mechwarrior 2. It was also part of the cartoon- you know those 3D bits. Would be so cool to have in mechwarrior online

I wouldn't want there to be the full color-change from MW2, substituting the game's real colors for the "damage display" of enhanced imaging. But, I can see maybe pressing a button and either toggling, or briefly showing, an overlay of any 'Mechs in sight, giving you the same sort of effect - just press the button, and you get a quick, decent idea of where to aim (if we can really target individual body parts - personally I'd prefer we only have that option if we have an advanced targeting computer like what the Adder and Warhawk have). The problem is, this would probably be pretty taxing on the game - if it were to be put in, they'd have to be very careful not to let it ruing framerates Perhaps by making it something that only comes out after the clan invasion, the devs would be able to spend more time working on it; I just think they'll have more important things to worry about.

it could probably be handled by using an overlayed hue on top of the appropriate parts of the mech. We've been doing it down in the recolored concept art thread really easily.

If thermal can work the way it does by recoloring mechs, I see no reason why they couldn't easily make a component/module that, when activated, overlays Green/yellow/orange/red/black on enemy damaged parts. It kind of sounds a bit OP unless you limit it in some way, such as only working on targeted mech only. Or having a maximum time for use during match or put it on a cooldown. I like the idea, just needs balancing.

I wouldn't be against this vision mode. Maybe make it a module or something. I can dig it, so long as it's not in your face...like it should only recolor mechs, not everything else.

Uh... the mechs aren't real. They're just a collections of vertexes, they can be displayed and colored how ever the devs want.
