I watched a Cicada with 4? Flamers do 86 damage across 4 minutes of constant firing and lose us the game several days ago. Nobody bothered shooting him until the rest of us were dead. So yes, Flamers are still a terrible weapon and you are gimping your team by bringing them.

I'd love to hear why.
Flamer prevents people form bleeding off heat, unless they stop shooting, they will remain hot and every time they do shoot, they will just move closer to shutting down. I.E. they do less damage, meaning I take less damage Meaning I live longer. Longer i live, more i get to shoot, meaning more damage I do.

no, 500 damage with other weapons... the flamer he says is a decent tool for distracting and confusing whilst using other weapons (without specifying what weapons)
even so, 500 damage out of a spider is pretty good going, whatever the loadout

I hate to tell you this, but no, they don't. That is simply one of the hypothesized uses for them that Paul is considering adding down the road. Currently they only raise the ambient temperature of a Mech by an almost insignificant amount while heating yours up far faster than it would normally.

you got the numbers? I have several shut down atlases that say otherwise. :\
and yes, i Know what is being planned for flamers and MG's. does not mean i still am not getting a hell of a good use out of them now. Would not have been able to do that 500 dmg without the flamer.

Yes I do, go ahead and check Ohm's thread.
In addition to this, those guys overheated themselves, you didn't do anything. It's pretty easy to do, especially with the shoddy Mechbuilding that the majority of the playerbase participates in. Blows my mind that they somehow create Mechs worse than their stock loadouts.

I have been at this since closed beta, and I have been runnings lights since, and one thing i can say for sure, mechs do not shut down as often when im pestering them, as when they do with a flammer on them.

They run hotter with flamers on them and have a harder time with heat management. These are on proven builds that most people use. Only place this does not work out, is on any map with snow.
But in the end, i guess it comes down to personal opinion on if its good or not. some people like MG's after all.

Would you like to drop with me right now, I will let you use them on me and prove that I still cooldown.
