So my first purchased mech was a cat a1 with a wicked cool phraken paint job and an absolutely horrible build. Stupid 6 missile hard point left no room for tag so ecm murdered it. But I refused to give up on it for weeks. Match after match I went down in fiery explosion after explosion. So my kdr sucks at .48 and I lost probably 80% of my matches.
However after selling my cat I no longer suck. I snagged an Atlas and promptly discovered that I can actually drive the100 ton beast. Normally doing between 400 and 600 dmg per match with 1 or 2 kills and 3 - 5 assists. Normally my team wins the match.
So what does elo mean for me? Am I going to be cast to the lowest of the I suck horribly ranks? Or am I going to be matched up based on my current skill level?

You'll be matched against others on your own level.

They started tracking elo on Feb 5th. NONE of the matches played before that date count for your new Elo, only the last two weeks.

Part of me is hoping they track PUG Elo separately from grouped Elo. Unfortunately I suspect that would be too much work for them, given they gave up on BV.

Preliminary tracking of Elo started only this month, but I was under the impression that they have not finalized how those stats work. Also, isn't there a planned stat wipe coming?

There is a group modifier to Elo. It is probably mentioned in the Elo Command Chair posts. There are very detailed formulas posted there as to what stats they are using and how they are using them.

Fully agree. Tried lrms, tried streak cat, tried spat cat, tried rounding out the build. I love cats I just suck piloting them. Kept getting my ears blown off. I'm far more deadly in my atlas ddc or my raven 4x.
Good to know elo only tracks the last couple of weeks.
