Hi everyone i am new here i did some battles (did not that great, sorry for that) in one of the trial mechs AS7-D. But now i have accumilated 3.707.248 credits (the chain symbol). I was wondering if it was a smart move to go and buy a mech for myself now but could use some advise in which one :D I also got a question about eXP points if look into my pilot specs i see i have 1800 or so exp but where can one see that in the game?? and what are the GXP then?? lol bit confusing for me atm.

GXP is general XP, which is used to unlock modules (via the Pilot Tree menu). It is shown at the bottom right of the screen.
Mech XP is earnt on the mech you are using and is used to unlock skills for that mech in the Mech Tree.
The GXP you receive is a fraction of the Mech XP.

You CAN use GXP to unlock mech skills, but since it is so much slower to earn GXP it's better to save it for unlocking modules.

Don't go buying a mech until you have a better idea of what you're doing... A bit of research goes a long way. A Hunchback is often recommended as a good mech for people to start with.

If you goten a feel for the game, its time to buy a mech and learn how to configure it to your personel weapon of mech destruction
There are some good threats about getting your first mech in the training ground forums. Basically, search for mechbuilds that are easy to learn.

I highly recomend to stay away from trying to get the "best" mechbuilds first, which often need a lot of understanding of the game to pull of their efectiveness.

I´d sugest one of the hunchback variants (4p or 4sp) that are easy to drive, bring good damage, high durability and enough speed. Also, as medium mechs, nobody will ask you to lead the charge or run out to get map objectives. Really good starter mechs.^^

You can find help for building a mech in the /guides/battlemech forums or here: http://www.mechspecs.com/forum.php

Godd Luck Have Fun and welcome to MWO :D

Ehh, I'm not really sure what you mean. If you upgrade to Ferro-Fiberous, all you armor automatically turns to ferro-fibrous. The only way you'd have to pay for more is if you don't have maxed out armor and just added some more.

Could you take a screencap and illustrate what you're talking about?

Also as a heads up, endo-steel is always better than Ferro-Fibrous 100% of the time for any mech.

The only reason to get ferro-fibrous is if you already have endo-steel. Usually this means only light mechs use ferro-fibrous as they are the only ones that tend to have enough critical slots to make it work.

You should save up your cadet bonus and get to 12 -13 mill, from there you can build a lot of great mechs.

Remember, guys if you have no idea what you are doing, you should always start with trial mechs, the trail mechs rotate every once in a great while, another good thing is that you get a mech of each weight class, these trial mechs cost you nothing to operate, but the only thing you get is Cbills, this is good and bad, cause if two stock mechs vs each other, one a trial, and one a stock, but elite (which is rare to see a stock, bought mech.) the stock mech with elite mech /skills/ will have a slight advatage.

Another advatage bought mechs have over trials is you can modify them

The advatage trials have is that you can get a feel for each diffrent weight class, so if you get your rear plate kicked in, it won't cost anything to fix, and you will still earn Cbills. It also gives you a feel in what type of mech class you are best suited for.

Don't buy a mech just cause you can cause you will never get the full refund on said mech, and it will even cost you more money as you modify it, and die (Which from experince, you will always die till you get use to the mech, or have a really good guild/clan/faction team with you.)

Just first get a feel for the diffrent weight classes of the mech, before making a choice, then do a little research on each mech in that class, like the hunchback for example itself is a good all around mech. It has average armor, average speed, average firepower, and average heat cap. The arms and the weapon bay on the hunch(Normally the right torso), because of that right torso, the hunchback is not a good XL engine holder seeing that if you lose the left or right or center torso, you die, and that right torso is a really BIG target.
