I don't really understand how this is proof of a failed sync drop, but I find the jokes about it humorous. Also Liao does not mean goons, just like squawk does not mean goons.

So uh, that's my opinion. Funny what happened to those guys though sucks for them

4 guys with coordinated builds. Big deal. Nothing to indicate they had more than that on their channel. Hell, outside the Liao tags, it could just as easily be 4 randoms who linked up on one of the TS servers and thought that might be a cool run. I've swapped in TAG when running on a team with LRM support, and I've definitely run theme teams with people I barely know or even have just met that moment. Shout out to the Closed Beta All Trollmando Team, btw, wish I could remember your names.

Not really sure going out of one's way to post a bragging thread about winning in an 8v4 match is any different than the "sync-droppers" that people here assume those guys are.

I can't count the number of times the MM has matched me up with other FWL players, heck, it happened one morning when I was pugging. 6 FWL players on one team... Immediate call of Sync drop by the opposing team. 3 Ilya's with TAG and a LRM boat seems like a fun 4 man set-up (maybe not the best, but fun).

If one guy disconnects when it tries to synch you, his 3 other buddies will fail to connect, which leaves you with only 4 total people joining the match.

It's always been like this.

I didn't know that. Does that only happen during a sync? I know we have lost a guy and launched with 3 of the 4 in the group before.

I've had that a few times, back when it claimed I was a lone wolf (Only using Davion because I can't be bothered switching to FRR, my true loyalties are always to Ghost Bear). Dropped with a team of six Lyran pilots against a team of eight Kuritans.... oh, the fun in that match watching the insults fly....

Having been in matches with as few as 2 people on my side, while just in "Press Launch and Go" mode, and having played with anywhere from 3-7 when teamed with people and not syncing with anyone, I'm going to say we're still looking at a fairly even chance of either a matchmaker failure or the sync bug you describe.

But then again, I'm not fond of visiting my assumptions on other people's intentions.
