Commanding Officer
Comstar Data Monitoring Activity

On 03 / 04 / 3050 routine monitoring software flagged data passing through the HPG network as unknown and militarily significant.

The flagged data was a short, unencrypted digital video, origination header gives the origin as Anywhere and date of capture of 03 / 01 / 3050, consistent with date stamp visible in photo. Anywhere is listed as a Rim World near the Northern FedCom border, no other data of note.

The video, approximately three seconds in length, appears to show a Battlemech of unknown configuration and affiliation. Image recognition of the visible symbols match no known group affiliated with the Great Houses or independent. Image is badly distorted, apparently due to effects of low grade, Battlemech scale ECM, or possibly weapon discharge proximity effects, on civilian equipment. Though the configuration is unknown, the mech shows no sign of being a patchwork conglomeration of known designs, and appears, as far as can be determined, a cohesive whole. If this Battlemech is from a Star League cache, it is of a design that is not readily recognized by the local image recognition software.

Further analysis is recommended at ComStar Central. Still Photograph of the clearest frame of video attached. Copy of video en-route via normal channels.

It's obviously the Dracs. They got tired of having only 2 AC-20s on their 'pults, so they tacked ballistics onto the arms as well. Considering our history, it makes sense they'd test it on us. >.>

That's obviously a teaser image from a movie production, "It Came From Beyond the Stars."
