Hi,

played a few matches after patch and quite liked 'em. More challenge, more interesting/tactical gameplay, and less than 30 seconds of wait which is completely fine.

However, I'd greatly appreciate if the tonnage/weight-class matching was tweaked some towards more equality:

Our team had
2 lights, 1 medium, 5 heavies and 0 assaults while theirs had
0 lights, 2 mediums, 2 heavies and 4 assaults.

The total tonnage difference was 190 tons - nuts!

It defeats the purpose of matching by skill if one side gets to field that much more metal.

Hrrm, this is confusing, wouldn't this skew the ELO system into making assault players look better than they are?

Come on now, the 8 mans came out of boredom and like stomping pugs, although they call them all pug stompers to make themselves not be hypocrits.

If you look at the dead players the heavier team would've easily won - our surviving lights just pulled an emergency base cap. This isn't about who actually won though nor about pugstomping (there were partial teams on both sides); it's about tonnage equality. 190 tons difference means a LOT more weapons on one side.

I made a thread about this earlier. It is quite ridiculous. The tonnage differences go way too high, I could understand max of 50 between the two teams, but 100-200? Way too much. Outskill is one thing, single outclass is another, but that much outclass is just dumb.

So, is it not possible to use the less weight to your advantage? You are faster... so cap? Wait until they push mid, or so, then take an alt route right for their base.

Just played a match where our team had 4 assaults, 3 heavies and my Wang. The other team was 4 lights and 4 mediuns.
Needless to say they were stomped.

:P

To be fair. I dropped in a four man. Ended up with 2 assaults, 2 Heavies. 4 Trebies.

Enemies had 4 Atlas DDCs, 2 Stalkers, a Commando and a Raven.

We won. So I like to think ELO is doing it's job. I agree there's an issue with weight, but the point of the game was to make weight not so much an issue as pilot skill.

A good pilot will spot the weaknesses and compensate for them. For now, I'll keep skeptical, but I like ELO at the moment.

I just saw the same thing. Can we get some developer explanation as to what is happening?

ELO score doesn't really make up for dramatically different tonnages on each team.

You guys still believe heavier mechs are better????? LOL!!!

I would prefer to get on the team with 2 light mechs rather than the team with no light mechs ANYDAY! Light mechs still rule! A team of 8 ravens will ace kill a team of DDCs anyday! In fact, a team of well coordinated 4 ravens will clean the field already.

As it is now, true, broken hit box, netcode mechs can take down something when their opponents weapons do not register direct hits properly.

I will admit, when the teams are similar in weight and have equal numbers of players, the quality of the opponents is QUITE a bit better. There don't seem to be quite so many outright wtf bad caliber players. However, the current weight system is AWFUL.

I dropped in my awesome with a stalker friend and the other five people were all trebuchets. There were only 6 people on the other team and I figured it was an easy win... but they were all heavies. It was something like 3 DDCs, couple cataphracts and a dragon. We got demolished.

The matchmaker is having difficulty grouping people which is why it takes so long to get in a match. We don't know if this is a bug or if thier are just not enough people playing or if the Elo just doesn't have enough data. After you wait a little while the system gets less picky so teams can be somewhat unbalanced.
