Agreed, extremely useful, while I was sitting on top of a peak in the Alpines raining missiles, when suddenly I was warned that now would be a good time to duck.

this is a bad feature as far as i am concerned. this notice is the same as saying: "enemy scout spotted in e3" and is makes the strategy of sneaking up on someone and blasting him by surprise less effective by making the sneaker less able to gather up valuable targeting information (where is the red spot?) without giving the target a head's up.
Scouting is about giving the enemy positions. the most effective and time consuming way of doing so was to target the lot of them. Now, if you do that, the enemy knows you know. So scouting has been nerfed, in a way.
It essentially nerfs the rewards for being skillful in this game by making sneaking up on people less effective. Face-on-slugfests / circle-jerking-streak-parties shoudn't be the only play style that is rewarded.
My verdict: toxic feature, please remove. OR nerf in such a way that the warning is only given if enemy is close up and in view.

When a mechs radar goes full active and starts pinging the hell out of you your mech should stay oblivious to this?
Or are you just whining about how bad tactics are now bad?

and yes an indication is useful, however the adio side of it needs to be toned down. visual would be fine after initial warning has been issued by the female sex bot built into the mechs.

In a way it actually makes it better. The most annoying thing when I'm playing missile support is when a scout on my side spam targets the enemy for a fraction of a second each. All that does is ping to me their general direction, and unless I happened to have the Battlegrid open at the time I still don't know what grid they're in.
If instead, they pick a target, and keep it locked, chances are that eventually they'll forget that someone pinged them (since it only alerts when someone acquires a target, not loses it), and missile support will actually be able to fire on the targets. They'll know where the missiles are coming from, but not necessarily where the spotter is that's targeting them.

Not a fan of the target lock, missile warning thing as it currently stands....
For those of you who reference aircraft, you're partially right. The missile warning comes up for radar acquisition by the enemy who has line of sight and has locked on to you, as the radar has gone from a broad search pattern to a focused one...
Ideally in this game if the firing enemy is not in sight due to building / terrain obstruction, then you should not get the warning. I would also apply this to the missile warning, as I feel that it should function like the AMS, no line of sight to the incoming missiles, no warning...
P.S. TAG should not set off the target lock warning, if a scout is good enough to get behind you undetected, they deserve to capitalize on your poor situational awareness....

What's next? Auto-target on any enemy who targets you?
