So I just finished a match where we faced off against 4 assaults and the heaviest thing we had on our team was a single heavy. I though you guys rolled back to phase 2 of matchmaking not totally removed it.
FIX THIS NOW

Apparently, tonnage matching now takes a backseat to Elo ranking, but it is still accounted for.
In most matches, tonnage is actually better matched up than it used to be, based on what I've seen. Most matches end up being matched within around 30 tons, although you will sometimes get that matching with totally different weight classes, and sometimes the tonnage will be very lopsided.

The new ELO purposefully doesn't account for the class of the chassis as much, just the ELO rating. Yes, it defeats the purpose...

There's not enough players to match by ELO and tonnage.

My thoughts as well. I don't think this game has the critical mass of players to properly enforce ELO. My experience is that any ELO matched games after they switched it back on are largely PuGstomping premades. The situation from my perspective is there is no improvement...

I had the exact opposite experience. After they turned it back on I had mostly very close matches. That includes one where we had no Light or assault and they had 3 d-dc. Only 1 time last night was it an 8-0 stomp. I like the different mech category teams. It requires more scouting to find out what they have.
