With the release of the Alpine map, and the news that the upcoming Desert map is going to be just as huge, I predict we'll see less SRM-heavy Catapults out on the field. I'm afraid their "month" has come to an end.

If I turn out to be right (and I could be wrong), what do you think the next "flavor of the month" mech is going to be? My own prediction is to prepare yourselves for more twin-Gauss Catapults.

I think we're entering the age of the PPC and ERPPC. They had already become much more common with the recent buffs, and with alpine here, desert coming, the EMP effect, and the revelation that this whole time we hadn't been actually getting our double efficiencies, their usability, usefulness, and popularity are only going to grow. Up until now the first thing I checked when looking at a chassis is how many SRMs I could put on the different variants. Now that I'm rethinking all of my builds, I find that the first thing I try to figure out is how easily I can fit a PPC or two!

poptarts

And as MuonNeutrino said: PPCs & ERPPCs

There is only a single "hot" map. of the 8 maps & alts, 4 are cold 3 are normal and only 1 is hot. The odds are pretty good of you missing the hot map if you are running a PPC build.

PPCs were already popular before they ECM'd ecm.

PPCs and ERPPCS will become the go to weapon now. Additionally SRMcats have been around since the first stages of beta, so they aren't going to go away, they'll just become more difficult to play effectively. Alpine can still be played with a 50kph brawler, but you have to be 100% in charge of how you engage and where. If you let the enemy draw you out you're dead in the water.

I think every time I have played alpine it ends in a base capture. Now people are probably just going to start camping really hard on that map :/

It will suck if there are a lot more lights since they aren't even fun to play anymore with ecm 3l's being basically the best of the bunch, jenners are seen less than spiders now I would even say.

The new flavor is just more of an old flavor. Sync droppers are going half sniper, half brawler right now.

3D's all over the place.

I don't think its going to be FOTM with them either. There will always be solids builds on that beast.
