They all fit for what you want I guess. But the best might be the Trebuchet or the Centurion variants that have missile energy and ballistic hardpoints, since you are looking for a versatile mech that can play in many roles. If you're into Jumpjetting as a plus then maybe the Trebuchet is your way to go.

The only downside to mastering Hunchbacks is you're going to wind up being "forced" to use a variant other than the superior 4P and 4SP. The cheap way out is to take the 4J and treat it like a 4SP, just put all the SRMs in the hunch.
But really, anyone who claims to be a Hunchback "master" must spend some time with the canonical AC20 build, either a 4G or 4H. I've seen people do quite well with the founders Hunch.

You've got four choices, pick any one you like best. We don't know your hardpoint preferences.

Good mix of Ballistic, Energy and Missile. Has Zombie mode if you stay standard engine. Easily handles Endosteel. Ballistics up to Gauss in the arm. Missiles, 2 (D) or 3 (A) hardpoints in the same torso.
Only disadvantage would be with Energy hardpoints. 2 both located in the Centre Torso, prohibiting a PPC, and limiting other options.
The new tweaks make it even better.

Hunchbacks are solid and reliable with (imo) better options for loadouts...

IMO Hunchbacks are the most reliable Medium Mech for you to run, but Centurions are great once you get the hang of them. Protect your gun arm (Unless you are zombieing that is

I haven't played the Trebuchet yet, but I'm planning on getting one soon. From what I have seen they are a great mech to choose, but I don't know what it is like to pilot one.

The Centurions are faster than the hunchbacks and in my opinion a better platform. They are a little bigger but the massive arms allow you to soak up damage and protect your torso and weapon systems. Additionally having 2 Md Lasers in the center torso will allow you to continue to be a threat long after a HBK would be destroyed.
Hunchbacks are a little more versitile allowing a huge range of loadouts, but they are a little more vulnerable. The HBK tends to subscribe to the "best defense is a good offense" mentality.
The Trebuchets look interesting, I have my eye on the 7K, although the 7M (jump jets) looks nice as well. NOTE: the TBT's are the fastests and only jump capible medium mechs.
