I've seen plenty of players who die on purpose and leave the game within 30 seconds of the game.
I've seen plenty of posts about punishing these players. Yet I haven't seen IGP do anything about it.
Ruins the game when the game is about team work and every man counts.

There was a time in gaming when multiple people firing on a single target (even in a team match) was considered dirty, lazy, dishonorable fighting. Why is that now the norm?
are you a fossil? i mean, i am playing online games for about 12 years now i think, and i can't remember a single game, where the players had this doctrine. Well except Ultima Online Hardcore Roleplay Servers when it comes to honorable combat between knights and all that. And maybe even 1 or two other RPGs, but those were exceptions.
Some people actually like the fact, that this game is team based, i like it, too. And this does not mean, you can't flank on your own, you just have to be very carefull, not to run into 8 enemys like an *****. In fact, if you are playing smart and with the team, a fighting group at the front lines and a small group of flankers can smoke up 8 clustered players pretty good. Of course that would mean, that the one force doesn't stay back while the enemy concentrates on the other one.

Unfortunately it is not as simple as saying "That guy's dieing on purpose" and then punishing him. Some players are unlucky, some are actually that incompetent. So you need to have a pretty large amount of evidence to be sure.
Really, too teamwork centric Xandralkus? You want a game where you can cowboy your way through and defeat the enemy single handedly?
You say that it makes the actions of the individual player is meaningless? Then you don't understand team work. The actions of every member of the team is important because we're all in the same fight.
While I think your idea for a free for all match type has merit, the current team oriented game is very fun too. The fact that you feel it is necessary to ruin the fun of other people in some desperate protest is really quite sad. Why don't you actually try to work with the team. You say flanking attacks don't work? Then you're doing it wrong. You say the game is broken because you can't solo play? Well, they've been pretty up front about how important team work was going to be in this game, so I think it's something else that's broken.

I started out LAN-gaming in Quake, Doom, and Descent. I had tremendous fun online with the Unreal series of games. So, I suppose 'fossil' is not entirely inaccurate.
Halo 1 (PC) had excellent solo PvP. Up until about 2002, players didn't exploit asymmetric firepower application, because they would get called out on dishonorable tactics, and they would get booted from the server if they continued for any length of time. Gaming used to be about having fun, not about ruining another player's experience at maximum velocity, just for the sake of a cheap win.
Even to this day, Tribes Ascend is a BLAST, as long as the number of players in a game stays low enough that we have to hunt and stalk one another for a bit, and skirmishes occur between individual players and not groups.
I want absolutely nothing to do with other players on my team in tactical play. They should go their seperate ways and do their own things, and if they're competent at those things, they can contribute to the team's total strategic success. When it comes to the actual bread and butter of combat, I don't want teammates acting as an artificial crutch. If I cannot defeat an enemy single-handedly, maybe I don't deserve to defeat them at all. Likewise, if they cannot defeat me single-handedly, do they truly deserve victory? I think not.
I may not see eye-to-eye with the cooperative PvPers, considering that cooperative PvP involves several tactics and techniques which I will never condone or use, but I do recognize that people enjoy it, for reasons unknown to me. Some people like 8 vs 8. Some people want 12 vs 12, or 16 vs 16. That's perfectly fine - I just want to opt out of those gametypes.
No such option exists at the moment. It's a regrettable tragedy that my playstyle is one of inevitable martyrdom in every game. Solo PvP is missing completely, so regardless of my intention, any match I end up in is automatically a 7 vs 8. My method merely makes the broken issue more clear and transparent.

@Xandralkus
they are eventually planning on adding duels.
as far as the rest of what you are saying: you are arguing against the very nature of any game that has more than 2 players. i won't say wanting something else is wrong, but saying that this game is broken because players work together and develope tactics is wrong.
8v8 is not 1v1. you should not try to force it to be.
honestly your best bet is probably to wait until the arena is added in. as long as there are more than 2 players this game cannot be what you want it to.

hm... i was playing LAN games too i was more with CS, UT and later BF1942 though. In none of those games did i experience anything about honorable combat. Maybe in UT's Team Deathmatch, but probably not intentional, whenever you saw a guy form another team jumpng arround dodging the shots of your buddy you would shoot him...
Instagib was all about pulling fire in one direction and then strike from the other one, because you had to hit, if you missed you lost
Halo 1... well, i never liked Halo tbh, won't argue about that, because i can't.
I experienced some more or less honorable combat in Eve Online. Had some awesome 1on1 fights there, but in the end, 9/10 people would not engage in 1on1 if they are not 100% sure, that they not only can, but WILL win the fight.
I am not saying, i dislike the playstyle you want, but i just can't remember any game, be it online or LAN, where you fought 'honorable', maybe if you were playing with friends.
For those Halo 1 servers you mention... well, it could be, but i could also imagine, that this wasn't the case on ALL servers but on servers esspecially set up for players who didn't want to really team up, just guessing though, if you say that it wasn't like that, i'll have to take it for granted.
On the other hand, i can't imagine why someone who refuses to play in a team would play anything else than Death Match. If MWO doesn't offer Death Match, why play it at all? Is it really fun for you to be the ****? Because in the end, YOU are the one ruining other peoples gaming experience - not for a cheap win in that case, but to prove what? that this is a team game? we all know that. Don't play it if you don't want to play team games

Mech Suicide Abuse
Some players have been repeatedly finding ways to destroy their ‘Mechs as quickly as possible.
This behaviour denies an otherwise healthy team of an active member, and makes the battle imbalanced. As such, this is prohibited and includes instances of players intentionally and repeatedly running out of bounds, or into the enemy team without tactical intent, or any other way in which a player has found to be self-destructing their `Mech.
