Kay.
High burst damage has been the name of the game for a good long time in MWO, even for the brawler builds.
This is truly nothing new.

I'm used to Mechs with a variety of weapons for long range and then close in encounters. Trying to play like that now is miserable. Its all about stack as much of the biggest weapon you can carry, and then throw in a few medium lasers.

Small maps with a lot of cover are favoring Splatcats. Big maps with not that much cover are favoring the 6PPC Stalker.
I really don't see your problem.

There are plenty of stock builds revolving around carrying multiple of the same gun, as well. And please explain to me how firing multiple of the same gun make sense to generate extra heat above firing several different guns which create the same base heat. The "logic" eludes me.

Only two out of 15 assault variants come with 3 of the same high-end weapon (3 PPC Awesomes). None of the others pack more than 2. Not a single heavy mech variant packs more than 2 of the same high end weapon. Hell none of the basic Catapult variants pack more than two missiles period.
Obviously stacking 6 of the same heavy weapon is canon.

The Masakari would like to say hi.

Clan mechs aren't relevant to this discussion. Game currently isn't balanced around clan tech since clans aren't in the game for a good bit yet.
