Steiner has 2 production sites for Hunchies

Free Worlds League and Draconis Combine have each 1

Okay. I'll tentatively put the Hunchback in the Steiner column. Are the many (very different) variants more associated with some other house?

Also, can anyone confirm that Komiyaba/Nissan is Kurita? Would make sense, but I can't find confirmation on Sarna.

Yes it is. The search bar on the left menu column is your friend.

You really want to find out who builds what? Go to the BattleMechs section of sarna.net and find a 'Mech. First thing under Product Information on right side will be the manufacturer(s) and if you follow those links it will tell you what planets in what Successor States they are produced on.

More or less the methodology I followed, except where the article text makes it very clear.

Unfortunately, variants are not listed separately by manufacturer, and some information pertains to differing parts of the timeline. For instance, I am really not sure whether the FedCom factory for the CDA was in operation in our timeframe, as the manufacturer had a plant there destroyed in the 2700s, and no current information is given (that I could find).

Also, the search bar didn't turn up any hits for me for the combined manufacturer name for the Hunchback. Turns out I should have just searched for Nissan. Anyway, it's an academic question, since we're awarding the HBK to Steiner unless someone has some evidence that one or more of its variants are more representative of some other house.

They never reopened the plant after its destruction. So no, all Cicadas come from the FWL.

Thanks for the information. Will move all CDA variants to Marik.

i think faction mechs should be cheaper. or earn faster XP.

or both

now if there were an economy. house vendors would sell only faction specific mechs. and the rest would be bought in black market or player run auction house. Or salvage.

While I think making, say, the DRG or RVN a faction-specific 'mech would rankle, I think it could be cool to have some faction-exclusive heroes down the line. Maybe with a cool rule like "If you kill 3 of these, you can 'salvage' one for yourself" perhaps at a cost of C-Bills or MC to get it up and running again.

Black market is a cool idea, but probably impracticable. Diablo III has left a lot of us scarred, and probably frightened the devs even more. Also, it opens the door to all kinds of abuse (starting new accounts for C-Bill bonus, selling stuff at unusual prices to transfer value.)

Shouldn't Steiner and Davion be combined into Federated Suns Commonwealth right now? Or something along those lines? FedCom FedSuns something

Fixed that. before the marriage it was the Fed Suns and Lyran Commonwealth.

Not really, Most Steiner Units stay in the LC, most Davion units stay in the FS. They don't really like each other or the other's tactics and preferences also.

I would say let people's loyalty rating (once that's in the game) affect the cost in BC, ABD affect the XP they get in faction related mechs to really make the factions take the mechs they "should". I very much want this to be implemented.

Another thing that would be nice would be some faction related skill sets. Perhaps Steiner pilots might get some handling bonuses in assaults. Davion pilots might get some AC bonuses (lightly less heat perhaps?), Kurita pilots would get some increased rate of fire but slightly less CBs after games (5% penalty?), Liao pilots would get bonuses towards sensors, and Marik pilots would erm be standard.

This was my impression too.

I think scaling it by faction loyalty/rank/etc. once that's in the game would be really neat.

This, however, you would have to be very careful with. C-Bills are far less important end-game, so balancing based on that would incentivize players to play factions unnaturally in the endgame. Additionally, I am skeptical of actually determining in-combat things based on faction. C-Bills are a matter of convenience; rate of fire is a matter of life or death.

Still, it's a cool idea if it could be balanced, though I doubt it could.
