I suppose many of you have tested our new toy already. I didn't have much time and thus have only bought and played one Trench Bucket (TBT-7M), yet.
Which variants did feel best or performed best for you? What play style do you think the Treb excels at?

7M. Trebuchet is obnoxiously tall for a medium mech. I find the best way to counter that weakness is to poptart with jumpjets.

Whoa, did I accidentally pick the right variant from the start? The 7M is the uncontested winner so far.

the only role it can do that others of the medium class cannot do already (and better than it) is PPC jump sniper

its okay in this role, but 2 ppcs don't pack much stopping power

The Treb is like the Phract in that all the variants are good and you really can't go wrong.

i'm still trying out the different Trebs so i don't have a set "way" with them yet. Saw a good one yesterday that I want to try. Its a K variant with ERPPC and Gauss. i use that on my D-DC so should have some good success with the set up.

I found, oddly enough, I really love the 7K, though the 3C is pretty close. (not good enough at some of the jump jet maneuvers to fall in love with the J or M models, yet).

I run mine as an "8K", and basically just upgrade everything on it.. ER PPC, UAC5 and Streaks. Seemed a little of an eclectic design to beign with, but works pretty well.

Voted for the 7K because it is the only one I have so far  I'm in debt with myself on the game, becuase I don't like to drop below 10mil C-Bills so have to get above that before I get another (keep the 10 mil for when new mechs are added, but then make myself pay it off)

I also bought a load of upgrades for it to shed weight whilst keeping a standard engine (not keen on XLs) and loaded a Gauss Rifle, 2 Med Lasers and a SRM2 into it. Need to save more weight to get a SRM6 pack into it <_<

I picked up a 7K, 7M and 5J. Out of them I pilot the 5J the most. I used a LRM15 with 2 tons of ammo, 4 medium lasers and a TAG. I still kept the jump jets.

I like my 7M alot, I used 2 SRM6s and 5 medium lasers as a quick jump ambush medium.

I'm 50-50 on the 7K. It has potential but I just haven't seen it yet.

7K, sniper. ERPPC, AC/10, medium laser.

You can also do ERPPC, AC/5, dual SRM 4.

AC/10, dual medium laser, dual SRM 6 works as well, but I like the above two better.

Got 4 kills and 500 damage in the ERPPC w/ AC/10 build. Managed to one-shot (headshot) another treb.

Gotta say I am very disappointed in them, I was hoping for a model that could pack at least 4 x srm6 so it could be the first legitimately good medium.

I agree that they are all good. very versatile. I think the 3C and the 7K are the most interesting. the 7M and 5J are going to get a lot of love for their jets. I like the way srms come out of the 7K's right arm, there's hardly any spread at all and even though it only shoots two at a time if you have two missile packs in the arm they will both shoot two at a time. so having 2 srm6 packs comes out in three shots of 4, but the 4 look and move like 2 missiles and don't hardly at all. it is a bit hard to get used to firing in a brawl but once you figure it out those missiles wreck things because they are so concentrated. even at 260M range they hit like they are in the sweet spot.

Picked up the 7M. Its an LRM support that goes 91KPH with Artemis, TAG, and JJs.

The 7K is the "oddball" variant. I might pick it up eventually becuase it looks like it could be fun.

FYI: The German community calls it "Tretboot" (engl. paddleboat) for the smilar sound (in German).

I'm running a 7M with 3 SRM 6 , 1 ER LL , and 2 ML for a total of 64 damage. The XL 295 and jump jets give it enough maneuverability that I can leap over an atlas and pump damage into the rear armor quickly. It takes some getting used to after only playing light mechs since closed beta.
