I'd like to see the game go back to 'play with as many as you want', letting people form groups of 5-7 again. Since the 8-mans are now in the same queue with everyone else, there's no reason not to bring this back.

Where are you getting that 8 man are now dropping against pugs? No where was that mentioned that I can find.

It's a bug with the new matchmaking. It's not intentional, and the devs have stated that they're tracking it down so they can fix it.

It is happening; a few of the units on the NGNG teamspeak server have confirmed that, while dropping in the 8-man queue, they are being matched against pugs.

Ah, I thought it was intentional, we were dropping in a 4-man and ran into an 8-man (and beat them, go ELO!).
Also, as I recall, dropping the 4 / 8 man split was intended to be part of ELO phase 3 in any case (the idea being that ELO would then generally place 8-mans against each other because they've have a higher ELO).

That was my understanding as well. If the system is working then the people playing 8 person groups only for pugstomping should be facing really good pug players.

They said it last night....unintended and removed.

Or other 8-mans - you wouldn't be able to specify that you're up against a pug team, so if your ELO is great from stomping pugs, you'll end up against non-pugs (or fantastic pugs).
